Now let's see those white ms3!

thanks man, i got a hole new look for it coming this spring. =]

i was actually complimenting laraw but your post came in right before mine. i'm sure your ride is looking sick too! hehe...

Man, thats a lot of money for just a drop. lame.

so the next question is why are the H&Rs more expensive and have fewer features? is it simply better build quality? (i know my BCs were not the best quality the world has seen.) and will i be able to live with the factory dampers if i can't adjust them?

soooooo hot!

In a word:

Yes.

Better build quality coupled with actual platform-specific damper tuning/engineering goes a long way.

The BCs, from what I've seen/read/heard, excel in neither area.

hehe... yes, trying to decide between H&Rs and BCs. i don't trust the BC as much but the price point and adjustability are hard to beat. if the H&Rs even just had adjustable dampers i'd be all over them.

Adjustability doesn't mean crap if the dampers are poorly matched to the springs.

The Bilstein dampers in the H&R kit were developed specifically for the rates H&R chose for the springs.

The BC dampers, from what I gather, are more or less the same cookie-cutter internals that they shove into all of their "BR series" damper bodies. I've seen no evidence to suggest that they were developed specifically for the 3/MS3 platform, and although I've never analyzed a damper dyno plot for an MS3-specific BC setup, the BC plots that I have seen have never impressed me in terms of damper curves and adjustability (for instance, the compression valving barely changes at all from full hard to full soft, and the ratio of compression:rebound damping in the plots I've seen are inappropriate at all but the softest settings).

I should also say that I've never seen damper dyno plots for the MS3-specific H&R setup either, but I've also NEVER seen a Bilstein damper plot that even approached being as questionable as the BC plots I've seen.

Take it for what it's worth.

Have you seen the BC's snapped in half just from some normal freeway driving? Might be those freak accidents, but ive seen it happen to many times to trust them on my car.

usually when something extreme happens like that it's because some one was beating on the car or it's just a freak accident like you said. however, i had BCs on my MSP and the build quality was questionable. two of the brake line brackets didn't fit correctly and one of the endlink tabs sheared of completely within 5k miles. in the end you get what you pay for. i'll probably plunk down the extra cash for the H&Rs just to try something different.

I'd definitely save for the H&Rs. I had BCs on my previous Mazda3 sedan and they were just junk in comparison.

Im thinking of draining most of my bank account to get me a pair of H&Rs cause my birthday is coming up. Im excited :)

Does anyone know whose car this is? It's from the nextmod site and I was curious on the fender flares they added on to it as to where they got them from. I was thinking about a subtle flare on mine and wanted to ask this person.

also searching for this car, also from nextmod because I have been desperately looking for rear flare add ons for years and wanted to see if they have more pics of these:

no rear flares? You got mud flaps tho, thats something that can also go where the flares are. But flaps would be pointless in the city tho. I'll never understand why people have flaps, especially the subarus if they are rolling in the city where there isn't any mud and it hardly ever rains.
