I was never in MEC. face it, this hasn't been a real club for a year. Whens the last time the whole group got together for a fudruckers to discuss club issues? Whens the last time the whole group got together to do anything at all??
Lets face it, most of the people in the group left MEC awhile ago. This forum is just something to pass the time at work.

I think he means that its not like it was. Before everyone seemed excited about club stuff. People went out of their ways to make it to events. Now people just dont seem to care as much. The membership list pretty much turned into a joke as most people on it never really did much. People have pretty much branched off to do their own thing now. A few people here and there get together and for this and that. Mostly because they are friends now not because they are part of a club. The club had been put together with the idea that it would cater to people into car show, autox-ing, roadracing, drag racing, or whatever. Bringin these people together that enjoyed whatever venue with others that enjoyed the samething. Or for people that wanted to get involved with some type of car s*** but didnt want to do it by themselves or didnt know how. At the sametime other members would help to support members by going to car shows, autox events, or whatever. I think we have served our purpose as a club and now we are a group. We have no real reason to have any type of leadership. Because, if we are a club that promotes whatever then we dont really need leadership to point us into some type of direction. We have too many directions in which this club goes. I have no disire to remain president and that has nothing to do with the people or anything. I just dont have the time or the energy to do god knows what. Everyone seems to be just content on do what they are doing and having a section on this board. I just think that MEC should be thought of as a group rather than a club. I will continue to be apart of whatever and hopefully continue my friendships that I have gotten along the way.

no its not the same as when we started MEC but it doesnt mean that everyone has left. people have started doing their own things be it shows or autox or whatever. we started the club/group to have fun period. getting together with whoever could and getting some food or doing an event was all we intended to do.
now with everyone moving on with their lives and cars the monthly gatherings have gotten very few and far between but we still are a group. even with 1/2 of the members getting rid of their mazdas the group still endures.
just remember when we started this nobody wanted to make mandatory meets and club dues or anything. it was always envisioned to be a looser gathering of people that wanted to be together because we all shared a comon love of our cars.

just remember when we started this nobody wanted to make mandatory meets and club dues or anything. it was always envisioned to be a looser gathering of people that wanted to be together because we all shared a comon love of our cars.

Well, I am not quite sure even where to start this post. Matt, I am disappointed that you no longer want to remain in a "leadership" position in the club, but I understand it. If you want to step down, then I agree that it is the right decision.
The definition of club from Webster's Dictionary is "an association of persons for some common object usually jointly supported and meeting periodically; also : a group identified by some common characteristic". The definition of group is "a number of individuals assembled together or having some unifying relationship ". Honestly I don't see a difference. So, we are talking apples and apples here.
If people are upset that we call ourselves a club and not a group, then by all means I think we should be a group. (fight) And for those that are complaining about not having regular meets, START SOME. You can't possibly rely on other people to provide your entertainment only to complain about the quality. If there's something you want to do with the "group", or an idea you have, POST IT. It's summer time, people have other s*** to do. This "group" is not the LIFE of everyone in it. I know I certainly have other priorities. That doesn't mean that MEC and the people in it aren't important to me, it just means that I have other aspects of my social life.
