Northeasterners (MA/VT/NH/NY): Interest in Route 2?

ya...I figured that's what you were doing. It would have been nice last year, when I got my MSP in February and had to shell out 600+ for winters and steelies from Canada. I'm gonna see if I can get some 15" Rotas for my snows...just need to figure out which ones I want, and what color! :D

so what are we lookin at? (quick reminder that i know almost nothing about tires, have never purchased snow tires before, and currently run my stock msp tires)

re: studs, not sure bout down there but in mass they're legal november through april on all roads. of course i have to drive into new york everyday for work and that's probably a different story.

how difficult is it to put a set of snow tires on?

If they are already mounted and balanced then its just a matter of swapping 4 wheels. Costs almost noting at a tire shop.

Or it really costs nothing but some elbow grease to do it yourself! :D

Dammit...I'm gonna have to do that real soon. I probably flatspotted my (already near death) Summers this past weekend doing a nice 180 in an autocross. (evil)

I'm interested in what you guys drum up too - we should have a little time yet before I see snow here in Columbus, but you never know.

Why not wait for spring/early summer and do a wednesday night at leabonan valley dragway??????

Prolly because poor Protege sedans (esp automatics like mine) don't have a chance of running any decent numbers at the dragway

... and why wait? we can do it twice :)

(or three times!)

Put me in coach. I live about 15 minutes from route 2 and about 20 minutes from Rte 91. I drive both quite often. Rte 101 might be a decent return trip but there can be some traffic on that road.

while we're on topic, if anyone has any other meets or drives they're interested in doing i would *love* to meet some enthusiasts in the area.

Rt 2 sounds like a blast. If we needed a group car photo op theres a factory turned into contemporary art museum in n. adams-- it would make for a great backdrop.

Turning up rt 91 into Vermont, then rt 9 into NH is a good route also.

There is a guy in Keene with a yellow MP3 I keep seeing him when I'm driving but I am going to try and track him down. I have just about every weekend free so I am down for whatever.

I am up for a meet anytime this month. I believe I have bruins tickets for next saturday and I am gone the weekend 21-23.

How does next sunday sound????? The 16'th. Should be a nice day for a meet/drive.

Regarding the snow tires, I picked up some 14 inch steel rims and 195/65/14 sympherit snow tires from discounttire.com and they did a great job last winter with all the snow we got in central mass. They also did well on dry roads. My mother uses blizzak's on her car during the winter, and I found mine to do just as well, if not better. I paid 425 including insurance and shipping.
