Nopi w/Tail of the Dragon side trip and this happened

Once you drive the road a few times you understand it. Now I am not saying that you own it after only a couple of times, I am just saying you know what it is and what to expect.

Both me and vito had experience on it a little bit and we wanted to see what it looks like at night. The problem is we went to drive it, not ride it, and that was a mistake. I was pushing the car and myself to the limits. The tires were screeching at every single turn.

btw, on sunday, there was a porsche that went off the side somewhere but apparently the driver had survived.

I saw the videos, they weren't going slow.

He slipped off the edge of the road, and I think went up an embankment and over.

The car's pretty hammered, I'd guess a total loss.
Then again, both people in it are ok, so there's no real loss. :)

Yeah, as many times I have lifted one of the back wheels off the ground in a turn and never came close to flipping you would have to be really moving to roll it over or have one really bad set of circumstances.

Wow, I'm glad to hear you are all ok. Cars can be replaced. Just be careful with the next one, as your life isn't as easily claimed and replaced by insurance. Of course it's very odd to see a mazdaspeed roll when driving within all legal limits right?;). Good luck with everything, I hope all works out and that your next drive there ends in much happier circumstances..

PS..where is this place? Is it a fun drive or what? I can't find anything good round here, and I am planning a road trip for next year..maybe it'd be worth a swing by...

Video makes me want to schedule road trip for now...I'm definatly gonna do a couple passes of that...video from many angles.

I have to say it's pretty scary out there at night. you have to take it easy and go with more cars. never go alone, even in daytime.

I did it alone the next morning, IN THE RAIN!!! It probably wasn't the smartest thing of me to do but I didn't drive up 15 hours to just back down at the last minute. Besides, doing it alone allowed me to take my time and to stop periodically for some interesting shots and footage. BTW, we all need to get together one night to look at the videos. I have about a good hours-worth of footage to show you all.

Very old thread but somebody I know is getting into the mazdaspeed thing so I thought I'd check out a few things here.
Yes the car is totaled. I ended up makeing $800 from the insur. company only cause I got the 0% fin. when I bought it. So it was worth more than owed. I was very reluctant to post on here for sake that the Insur. comp. would check around. If anyone has the videos of what happened go ahead and post them cause I have know idea where they are. Last I heard of the car was a friend of mine working up in MN seen it come into his work (he's was a mech.) and they wanted him to cut it up and make a new car by joining 2 wrecked cars together. He told his boss its not worth it and not too much later they canned him. I bought a 96 rwd MPV after this. And had it for about 3yrs then gave it to my dad and bought my self a 04 Subaru forester XT. I live up in IN now where it seems to snow sometimes soo. I have modded the FXT to keep up or pass most STi's and its alot of fun to watch peoples faces when I pass them.
Again sorry for bringin up the old thread but haven't been on any mazda forums in a long time.

P.S. I need to tackle the dragon again to get over some s***.
