Noob here have some questions

Hey guys whats up? For the past 2 yrs i ve been driving a 99 honda prelude..I know everyhting about that car all the mods abailable and all the weaknesses. So im starting over. I am currently looking to finance a 2007 mazdaspeed3. So i have some questions for you guys..

How does the ms3 compare to srt4s colbalt ss mustangs and stuff thats in its league stock..For me it has always been about power power power...How hard is the ms3 to make fast. Is the block strong how much psi can it hadle stock? These are just some of the questions i have to ask..

Thansk guys for looking at this and thanks in advance for helping me out

Steve

Ms3 and SRT4s are about the same stock. Cobalt SS is slower stock. New Mustang GT is faster stock for stock, but with a cai I smoked one at the track.

To make it faster is easy, search around, there are a couple of ms3 at 300whp and others almost there with bolt on parts. 18 psi is about the max safe psi on the stock turbo and the block is good to about 330whp. Some ms6 have blown engines getting to those numbers, but no ms3 have meet that fate yet.

10 months ago, I was on the fence like you. I owned a Honduh Accord and realized it would cost $5-10K to make it go fast. I opted for a new car. I looked at the Mustang GT and was impressed, but everyone has a Mustang and I would rather have the Shelby and you know how hard those are to get... I looked at the BMW Mini and I gagged. I looked at the VW GTI and I wanted to puke. I was going to wait for the Volvo C50, but glad I didn't.

SRT4s and Cobalts are okay domestics with potential. They fall in the same category as the MS3, but there is absolutely no mystique to them. No pizazzaz. You know, when you read Motor Trend, Road and Track, and Car and Driver and you see the Mazdaspeed 3 take 1st Place in every comparison challenge, then you have to realize the greatness of the car. You have to respect the car. Many people respect the car. I rather have the car that deems respect.

Currently, I don't see why I should respect the Caliber or Cobalt, but respect the Mustang (realize its in a different class though 6 or 8 cylinders beats 4, simple Poker rules). However it will be the future Focus or Nissan's replacement of the Versa that may eventually de-throne this awesome car. So the question you have to ask yourself is: Do I wait for something that might never come or do I roll one today?

I'd buy two or three if I could. Probably buy a used one in three years, strip it out and put a stroked PG engine in it and convert it to AWD, but that's another thread...

Thanks guys that exactly what i need to know right off the bat now i can do soem research on the turbo and block etc. thanks guys
