Nology Hot Wires

GNO said:
Not necessarily. The wires are supposed to help deliver a "hotter spark". Colder plugs has more to do with the heat range of the plug. . . basically the plug's heat transfer abilities.

There's a different kit for the MSP that relocates the coils to the rear of the engine bay.

so are the nology hotwires suitable for the msp? or is there a different manufacturer i should be looking at? also, what is the reason/benefit for relocating the coils?

Other than possibly interferring with the engine cover, I have no idea why Captain KRM P5 stated Hot Wires would not be good for an MSP or MP3. Nology does have a separate P/N for MSPs. The coils are relocated to the back rather than the front, becuase the forward position interferes with the turbo and/or piping.

ooohhh ic, you meant that the coils have already been moved to the back. gotcha. i thought the kit would have u move the coils in addition to the wires.

Since the spark/ignition system is more than adequate for our cars - what is the point? Us the d-re-mi for better mods - like an UD pulley or somesuch?

Waste-o-money IMHO.

Is it? Just curious, I have no way of knowing...
The ignition system is more than adequate for our cars. Any "upgrade" would yeild little to no performance gains. In the days of the distributor, when dependancy on physical contact between the points and the rotor and a single coil for all cylinders, people made big gains by upgrading ignition components. With more powerful and multiple coils and magnetic or optical firing mechanisms, OEM ignition system are typically well suited for performance applications

looks like the only benefit is a smoother idle, which can be had by simply better grounding of the engine bay...

GNO, my wires aren't really too close to the heatshield. they are still cool after driving for a while.
