No sound from woofer

Hey - Ok .. I looked for other threads like this ... but couldn't find anything bang on. I have tried turning the woofer "off" and to "8 inch" and everything, like some people have mentioned in other threads, but I still can't get ANYTHING out of the woofer. I picked the car up on Thursday and the service guy said that everything was fine .. i mentioned that i was hearing anything from the woofer, and he said he checked it. Obviously he didn't. I checked the fuse and it seems fine ... Does anyone have any advice on what the *#@& is up with this?!?!?

try using the NF button (hold down the AM button for 3 seconds). might turn it on. or, one of the wires to the sub disconnected. or, your sub is blown

Hey Meghan I just picked up my mps last week and I have the same problem as you about the sub and amp. The is no power going to the amp... I spoke w/ the service manager and he played around with it, tried the NF button but still nothing. ultimately they are now ordering me a whole new back unit. my advice is to speak w/ the service manager from where you got the car, and stand with him while he's checking your system.

Reset button time. Use something pointed and hit that little tiny white button. Its what finally got my sub working

There's so many things that could be wrong that you just have to try a bunch and let us know what results you get. Then we can suggest alternative soultions. First off, try the reset. If that doesn't work, come tell us.

Servoeyes ... Alright - here's the deal: I went to teh dealership today and had them check everything out - the amp had power, but i wasn't getting anything outta the sub. They opened all the plastic s*** up and found that the wiring isn't connecting. There is power to the amp, and the main wire is fine, but the smaller wires might be broken. (apparently) ANyw3ay - they "fixed" it and after 4 songs i changed the C.D. and *POOF* the sub stopped working!!! Grrrrrrrrr. The service manager said he would give me the 2003.5 to drive while they fixed it ... so I'm not going to complain at all. They are ordering in everything new for me ... God I Love these guys - so nice being a chick! Anyway - that's the scoop for now - until then, if you have any advice, I appreciate all of it. I am still getting used to the car - and although i don't think it has enough pick-up i LOVE it! Such a sweet little car! Take it easy ....

hey i'm havin the same problem. WTF should i take it to the dealer or take to and actual stereo shop?? i know everything is covered under warranty at the dealer but i know my local car audio shop might know more than the tech at the dealer. what do u think??

Remember to check both fuses when the sub stops. There's one on the battery cable and under the amp between the amp and the sub. When I got my sub changed out I kept blowing the 15 amp fuse that was in there, so I switched to a 20 amp and no problems since.

Cool...I'm glad that they're handling it for you. That Kenwood sub and the enclosure are bother real pieces of crappola! i have my sub sitting in my room holding change...because the cone detached from the surround. That was *after* I had the whole damn thing replaced. Now the amp is attached to a box housing a JL8w0 for my ex girlfriend. The setup will look/sound 100x better than the stock MSP stuff. Which means what I have now, sounds about 100,000x better. :)

If it died, bring it to the dealer...it's under warranty, they'll have to fix it. It' their responsibility. But if you get sick of it after a while, you can do what I did and just rip it all out! ;)

hey, where is this reset button at..i was lookin all over for it...im having the same problem, but i think i blew the amp somehow without blowing fuses. Is the power indicator supposed to be red?

yeah i kinda figured that. i'm gonna do it thursday. actually it worked the other day but then it stopped. theres gotta be a loose connection or something cuz it turns on then cuts out. pretty annoying i must say.

Had the same problem with the sub and amp, amp had power but nothing from the sub. They had to order a whole new head unit first becuz it kept shutting it self off and freezing mid rotation. Now they ordered a the sub and amp, 2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting on them to call me...sometimes things take longer then I ever wish.

Mike

yeah i did, they hooked me right up, i just actually got back from thereand picked my ride up. they replaced the whole thing. sub and amp and box, whole shabang!! took it there tues got it back today i got to drive a mazda 6 while it was in.

Hey! Glad to hear that they hooked you up - I get mine replaced tomorrow morning - soo excited! This one better last longer than the previous! lol

What?!?

They ordered my s*** 3 weeks ago and they still said that they are having trouble finding out why it hasnt come in, they cant find the number or sumtin to call them...so i guess im just s*** out of luck, thanks mazda!

Id rather threadjack than start another subwoofer thread....so does anyone know where the other 15 amp fuse is for the stereo aside from the one on the battery cable? I think that I have heard it is under the amp but I am not sure. thanks
