i was just wondering what you guys have run into with the protege 5 and girls. i wouldn't expect to pick up girls because of the car i drive but most girls i date are like WTF when the see my car. typical response is. "you drive a station wagon?" "where are your rims?" ( i have black slipstreams) "did you wreck your car?" ( carbon fiber hood) and one girl even called it a mazda volkswagen (fuoops). i dumped her shortly after. ne way, just wanted to see what others have run into

You know.... officially the P5 is not a station wagon at all..
It is a five door hatchback as anyone can surely see..
A station wagon is a four door sedan with an extended rear roofilne which is accessed by a nearly vertical tailgate door or hatch... and the overall length is the same or longer than the sedan...
A four door hatchback is a hatch version of a similar sedan with a shorter overall length and a rear hatch opening which is usually sloped considerably towards the front of the vehicle...
Park a P5 next to a Focus wagon.... Focus sedan..... and a Protege sedan and all will see the difference....
Not that it really makes a big frigging deal to anyone... but at least we all can say with a clear conscience.......

well i can not say that ... i had this girl drive me to her place one night b/c i was torn up and could not drive ..pluse i got a bonus ...my b/f drove it once b/c i had to pick up my truck ( the truck had a trick to the gear box and i thought it would be easier for me to drive) and i think my father took it w/ out permission once ...he said my car was in the back so he just took it ... but i do not trust anyone with my car .... it is mine and i will be greedy with it ...( i did not sahre as a kid and will not start now ) ...oh and my ex- soon to be wife was allowed to drive it with out me in it ....but rarely of courseNJP5Guy said:
I've heard it all. The "station wagon" bit, it's "cute", etc. The last girl I dated really likes my car (and she drives an A4 1.8 Quattro). I don't use the car as a status symbol, I just like (love) it for what it is. However, I wouldn't complain if it drew members of the opposite sex

I love my P5 so I personally don't care what anyone says or thinks about the car I drive. I only listen to the compliments. LOL
Even if I won the lottery, I would have the P5 parked next to all the other cars i would own. Of course it wouldn't be stock at all but still a P5.

Why have black rims? They basicly appear as if they aren't there and they certianly don't make a car look any better. Most people know black rims as either snow rims or as a wheel to a s*** box.
Why would anyone spend money to make one panel of there car a different color then the rest? Carbon fiber does look like an unpainted hood, again like is found on a beat up POS. The notion that someone could have bought the hood for looks or to save 10 Ibs on a 2500Ib vehical isn't going to be the first thing a young lass things of.
If you want to get women with your car then 2 things you should not do is put money into an appearence mod thats hard to notice or put money into an obscure weight reduction mod that looks like you forgot to have your hood painted.
In part 2 I'll tell the class what they should do to impress ladies when it comes to cars
