No 2006 RX-8s??

Hi all,
Is Mazda taking a hiatus from the RX-8? www.mazdausa.com only shows 2005 RX-8s and labels them as such; their spec sheet states 2005, even if you build one today. This email from Edmund's states they believe there is no 2006 RX-8, which would match mazdausa.com:

Thats funny, my local dealership has "06" RX8s on their lot. Im not sure, ill be at the dealership later today, ill see what they have to say about it.
 
I spoke to Mazda Corporate and they first told me the 2006 MY RX-8 is the Shinka edition, but when I told them I didn't believe that they "checked on it" and came back and said the 2006 will be released late April/early May, 2006, and that Edmund's was in error, and their website would be updated then. I'm not quite sure I believe that either, but I'll go with it for now. :)

I also found out you can hear a rotary engine and angels by dialing 1-800-222-5500 and pressing "8". :)

I'll tell you all the same thing I told the guys on the RX-8 board: TWO genuine Mazda mechanics I know personally told me that in their last Mazda Training session they were told the RX-8 is being discontinued this year (read: there *may* be an 06 model to get rid of parts in the bin IMO) and also that 2006 is the last year for the Tribute (not that you guys may care).

I got a lot of "I'm calling BS" responses and even one snobby ass that said "he wouldn't take the word from someone who merely changes oil". That comment boiled my blood because I take pride in the knowledge and capabilities of my Mazda mechanics.

Regardless, we'll see what happens by the end of the year. In the event they are right, I will be saying "I told you so..." :p
 
We have an '06 Shinka in stock right now and should be getting 6-speeds in shortly, as in this week. Automatics are at least a month or two out right now. Supposedly there was a hold-up because of the new transmission and the plant fire. I'm thinking that slow sales might have something to do with it, too.
 
'06 RX-8s are showing up on dealer lots now, so that's the end of that. there will be changes come '07... as to what kind of change it'll be, we'll have to see....

OMG mazda, pleeeeeeeease offer a turbo option, even if it is a small one!
 
We've got 'em in stock. New Shinka on the ground right now and more to come Friday.
 
My brother in law is a master tech on them, he was told the same thing.. they are tryin to find a solution to the engine stalling/wont start after not letting the car warm up.. some s*** like that..
