Night mode? 2008 Nav

I just drove around with a blazingly bright nav screen at night. I have the nav screen set to "Auto" instead of day or night mode. It never seems to change from day to night mode. Is there a way to set the time it switches over to night mode?

I have a 2007 with NAV and also operate in auto mode. When my headlights turn on, then the NAV goes into night mode. There is also a brightness adjustment in the display (button) section.

+1 The Nav screen should have a yellowish background and be brighter in daylight mode, and should switch to a black background and dim for night mode. The switch should occur as soon the headlights come one. My light sensor is too sensitive for my liking, and it seems to go into night mode way to early for me. You can also manually switch the mode by pushing in on the dimmer control in the speedo cluster. I am always doing that on mine.

+1. However, at night, I find that the map screen is too dark in night mode, and too bright in day mode...

As montioned by others before me, it is triggered by the headlights (auto or manual).
It is not set by time.

OK I always leave my headlights on "AUTO" so I thought something was wrong. Today I hit the dimmer cancel button and it's now switching normally. Thanks!

I'm always set for AUTO and no matter whether it's night or day, it never seems to be in the correct setting. I'm always pressing mine manually!

Same here, it is like the automatic sensitivity set/change point is not right.

Same as on my 2012 as well...

Going to claim some warranty (including this) next week, so stay tuned for some updates

Same type of issue on my 2012 mainly during cloudy days, near dusk when it happens or when I drive thru a row of trees that shades the road.
Have not had my first service on the car, figure I would talk to the service person when I went in for the first service to see if they can change the set point.
Funny part is that once it sets it does not reset and I think that is a issue. Should not have to push the manual button.
Case in point is if I take a certain route home from work I go thru a row of trees and it set it off and after I clear the trees it does not reset, I have to hit the Manual. Really do not care about the nave screen but the speed Odometer is a issue as I can no longer read that and I think that is important as the first location in this route that it goes off is a school zone with a second one right after the first. So very important to be able to see the speed going thru those areas.
