NGR performance type S. anyone tried it?

You get this thing yet? I am curious how the NGR compares to the greddy type-s that I have as well.

I actually just put in my NGR type-S a few days ago. sounds EXACTLY like a greddy type S and holds boost just as well IF NOT BETTER than my HKS did. Only downside compared to the HKS is you have to make the adjustments to the spring yourself through trial and error. It's really not a big deal but I've had to adjust it maybe 5 or 6 times now as the spring breaks in and becomes less stiff.

well I tried running the NGR in VTA and it ran ok, kind of. It threw a CEL within 2 hours of drive time, idles funny, and backfires often. Yes these are common symptoms when running VTA, but the reason I'm making this point is because when I ran my HKS VTA none, yes not one, of those happend to me (well maybe the occasional backfire but no biggie). Will be going back to recirc today, even though it sounds glorious when vented

thats what Ive been saying. The greddy type-s is the sexiest sounding valve out there when in VTA but the CEL, backfires, and jerky shifting are a b****. While the HKS doesnt sound as good as the type-s, it runs perfectly fine in VTA with no cel, no bad idle or jerky shift and very minimal backfires.

Too bad the type-s can't always be left VTA :( I feel your pain dude I miss that type-s sound

you guys are making me want a type s/NGR and deal with the shittyness of VTA just to hear it, i might buy one just to hear it haha

i still have not made a video of the type-s, but it sounds just like the ones in the youtube videos when in VTA. It's pretty badass

yeah but youtube and real life, theres a difference, and i wanna hear this god damn difference. im gonna buy one i think haha, i wanna try the forge VTA as well, its supposedly tuned to our car just like the HKS so i dont see a problem running it VTA

the way it sounds on youtube is the same at it is in person. No difference that I can tell. Also I would like to hear the forge VTA, is there any videos of that out there in VTA and if anyone knows if it stumbles like the greddy?

Well I got mine in and I'm running it with the 1 spring mod so it opens at about 14 in/hg instead of 19 with both springs. Runs much better with the 1 large spring in. Sounds way loud recirculating. My friends keep getting more jealous of my car =D I've completely disassembled it and it seems to be good quality. Then I tested my friends Greddy Type-s and it won't hold vacuum. Greddy internals and the NGRs seem to be fairly the same. I would recommend this bov to anyone. But don't buy one if you live in Ogden, Utah; I like sounding unique. New York.

great job, I had done the single spring mod last August and found the adjustability to be better and the response from the valve to be quicker to open.

Well I've been having troubles with only running the large spring setup. The large spring requires too much compression to get the spring rate that I want and in turn it cannot compress into the metal housing it sits in. It gets stuck on the edge when the piston is almost all the way in and then it just pops into the hole. I think I need to round out the hole a little bit more so that it doesn't get caught on the edge or I need to extend the edge somehow so that the spring has no where else to go when fully compresssed. I tried running both spring the way it comes but even with the adjustment screw just barely making contact it flutters. I even tried it that way for a while to see if I could break the springs in but to no avail. I either have to modify the bov to work better with the spring, get a new spring possibly from a real type-s, or let both springs sit on 20 with a hand held vacuum pump for a day and see if I can't break them in REALLY good. I dunno too much bulls*** to deal with just to make it work. Plus seems like I had higher boost with the stocker. I'll keep working on it so don't get your hopes down about this ngr bov. I've played with it a lot so that might be the cause but so far it seems to be working good besides it struggling to open all the way with only the large spring in. Works AMAZING the way it comes, and I would buy it over a Greddy type-s anyday. Sorry if I'm repeating myself a lot I'm kind of out of it. Bed time...................Mir Moose

i dont seem to understand why you messed with it. did it not work fine the way it came? why not just let the springs break in during normal use and adjust along the way?

Nope. Even with breaking in it flutters with both springs on the lowest setting. It's just like the greddy, you have to take the small spring out. The vacuum at which it opens is too slow too.

with the one spring how many turns are you at after contact?
cause i have the type rs and had the type-s prior and i found with the bigger spring only and maybe like 1-2 turns after contact there was no flutter...
