Next Time You're Looking for a "Kill"

in response to you question pale fire, i would just look around on the internet, I havent built a chevy since I sold my 70 nova in 2000, this speed3 is the first car I own with over 130hp since then , good luck with the build and reinforce it because if you put serious power it WILL tweak the body til the doors stop closing ( i speak from experience)

Of course I do not see why that had to be racing to be charged with a crime. I think anytime you are involved in an auto "accident" with injury or deaths you should be charged with assault or murder.

(omg)I dont even know how to respond to this... (dunno) - like the saying goes: If you have nothing nice to say dont say anything at all... Ill be quiet now....

oh screw it I tried to be quiet.....

maybe the drunk running the red light wasnt the best example of the flaws in your proposed change to the laws... maybe this will help:

"Your 30 yrs old, driving down the road doing the speed limit being a "carefull and courteous" driver and you have a sudden heart attack causing you to lose control and smack the car next to you injuring the driver or worse killing him. You are now looking at a mandatory assault charge or worse murder charge" - Would you still think your proposed law change was a good idea if YOU were the one with the heart attack?

Yeah, my drunk one wasn't the best example, but there are so many loopholes in that proposed law change, its not funny.

What if its an equal fault accident and both parties are hurt?

no not really

a friend of mine got in trouble with the law, went to jail for a few yrs, and got out @ like 22 and he was just as bad as 16 y/olds with a new license

most people are more mature in thier 20's then they were in thier teens, there will also always be exceptions.

if someone is judged to be completely at fault (excessive speed, drunk driving, racing, running a light, wreckless driving...) that kind of system could work. The injuried party would have to choose to press charges, the jurisdiction would have to determine if there is a case. The charge wouldn't be mandatory and it would be alot of paperwork, but if the injuried party takes the time to press charges the driver could be hit with an assault charge. There would be no financial benefit to pressing charges, just the fact that the guy who wronged you may serve time for the incident. If I were seriously injuried in an accident with a drunk driver, i might press charges. If I have a couple bruises from being rearended by someone who couldn't stop in time in the rain I wouldn't, if i was an ass and chose to press charges on that they would probally be dropped anyway.

it would be complicated, that is true, which is why it will never happen.

It would be more than just complicated, and that is exactly why it will happen...

Interesting fact, did you know that 1/3 of all accidents happen because someone doesn't stop in time?

i think he got the impression from the (cabpatch) smilie...+_+;

ya, i saw the stopping distance article through tirerack too...it's a pretty big letdown to realize just how screwed we are on wet pavement without new tires...

what i would like to know, though, is how the dry traction is affected by the aged/beat up compound of the older tires. the treads are still roughly the same pattern, so that shouldn't be all that different...

dry traction improves actually ...you don't have the soft, tall tread blocks moving around on the pavement

theres a more technical explanation..... but I suppose this will suffice until I'm sober and well rested
