Next Meet?

HI everyone! Daytona was great, the Tampa and Orlando Meets have been fun. Now its time for a North Florida Meet in my neck of the woods. It is not that far to drive. Heck, I have driven for 3 hours down there for other meets!

I am thinking of Ocala at the Drag Racing Museum. Those who were there remember the big turnout. It was also organized pretty well as far as things we did.

Let's think about where we will meet, then plan a date.

For those who were not there, here is a pic taken with most of the attendies.

With NO.P.I. and H.I.N. in miami and a few other small shows down here, I think we're (IPMCSFL) gonna be pretty booked through the end of the year. Maybe we should all plan a New Year Expo maybe a few weeks into January!!!

well, I truly believe in planning ahead. But 6 months! It will be freaking freezing up here in January. I am thinking more of a November meet or something. September is too soon, I doubt I could get a decent turnout. October is when there is a NOPI in Tampa and Zoom Zoom Live. So maybe early November at the drag racing museum?. First, lets pick a place.

I really want to have a good meet for the panhandle folks to be able to make, as well as for the Tampa, Orlando, and south people to also meet. That is the goal, I hope I can count on everyone!

Vote away for a location, and post suggestions in North FL as where we can all meet up!

MY VOTE HAS BEEN ADDED! I believe November would be good! Maybe even the 26th which is Thanksgiving weekend when every one has a long weekend (and looking for a break from in-laws!). There is no other events for November that I know of and that is 2 weeks before H.I.N. in Mia!

i'm down for a meet in ocala......but not in november....to much stuff going on....i agree with the peeps from Intense performance.....sometime in january or feb.

Unfortunately, November is a bad month for me. I'm gone from Oct 31-Nov 6 at SEMA. Then when I get back, I have to repay all the trades at work so I could have the previous week off. And Thanksgiving weekend is busy for a lot of people (myself included) with family and friends coming and going.

I think the overall opinion of Ocala for the meet means that is where we will have it. Waiting 6 months to have another meet is not really what I thought people did out here. I am used to car meets in my vw club almost every other month, from all of CA. I guess times and people are different now. I am going to push for a november *or December meet, not around Thanksgiving (won't be here), but earlier. Those who will come will have fun, and we will just catch up with you in 2006 after football season is over.

Well see, we tried the monthly thing in Orlando, and it went well for a few months, and little by little it fell apart and pretty soon it was only a few of us showing up. Then we just kinda forgot about it.

I'd be up to do that again, but everybody here has such different schedules. And I'm sorry, but with price over $3 a gallon, some folks are going to have a tough time driving 3 hours just for a car meet with the same 15 people every month. Some of us will do it, but many more probably won't.

I do agree that gas is high, and that maybe meets once every 2 months is a lot to ask for. But this is just a chance for people to come up to our neck of the woods for a meet, with a pretty good location. I have not heard much from the panhandle, but it might be a good opportunity for them to be able to get to a meet.

Driving 3 hours to a meet, then driving 3 hours back, I have done that with almost every Tampa Dealer BBQ, the Orlando Meet, as well as Daytona. I am not afraid to drive. Of course, I am not eating 93 octane...

I guess we will just have to set up a month that is good for everyone, and hope we can get together then. Will see how this meet goes. If we cannot really get anything planned, I will stop trying to set anything up here in North Florida.

I have no problem driving up there every once in awhile. And I'm sure others feel the same way. I just don't see a lot of people making a 2-3+ hour trek once a month for a meet. I think doing meets like this quarterly makes them feel a little more exclusive, and thus, more people will want to attend.

Doing it monthly could very well give it a feeling of "well, we're gonna do it every month, so I'll only go to the meets near me" to some people.

I personally think we should make these florida meets either semi-annual or annually!!! There is much more... prestige to it, you know, "the second annual florida mazda meet" or "the semi-annual mazda extravaganza". If we did it once a year, or twice a year, we would have much more time for actually planning it, doing it right, etc. We started "really" planning the July statewide meet like a month before. And that was completely last-minute-thrown-together. Yawl want to do that every month? or twice a month? I think maybe we should have them twice a year, end of January and end of July. This time, you guys want to have it Ocala? Awesome!!! I hear the weather is nice up there in January. But, are we going to be devoting the entire day to the race track? Are we going to rent the track for the day?? There's a lot of stuff, I suppose, which is why we need more time to plan this.

Just my opinion.
