next gen debut in Geneva March 1, 2005

thats awesome, can't wait to see final production. I've seen the proto, spy shots and the likes. But the final thing always looks different. I'm also interested in the numbers

Great article! But I must admit I do not know how to convert the metric power rating to SAE. Help!

nice article, thanks mazda3.
The new style looks pretty good to me. Maybe not as agressive as the visual impact of the first gen but it looks pretty nice. I think Mazda will lose market share to the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice which are a bit more daring.
It really sounds like they have done a good job improving the technical aspects of the current car (syncros, flywheel, track, driveshaft, rigidity, etc.) plus the standard features have improved. This is all good news.
I haven't seen US prices yet. Any clues?
More pretty pictures:

It converts to 160HP, thats the Euro version. The new Motortrend Mag is stating 170HP for N.A. Car weighs only 22 lbs more than current Miata, so performance should be good. And the MZR motor loves boost!!(laugh)
