NEWS! Apex'i S-AFC II will work

oh btw, adventon.com and rpmmotoring.com both sell the safc II for around $320. so it's pretty much the same price as the gen I safc.

how much is it?

on a side note, apexi or kenetix can i do a sig for you?

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll remain pictureless when it comes to the sig. I can't decide on anything. I want something original, but not too big and a lot of members dislike long sigs or large images in sigs. Another thing, seeing as how I have pretty much nothing done to my car, there really isn't much to do.:(

Striker187, good find! $320 at adventon.com. And in black! I'm so ready to buy this, my fuel curve is terrible. Leans out at 3500, dumps fuel at 4500. Plus the S-AFC will allow us to use venting BOVs without stalling problems by using it's decel function.

Someone please test this thing. :)

How is this different thn the first one? The reason the first S-AFC didnt work with our cars is that when we go WOT about 4500rpm, the computer shuts out all sensors and goes with pre-programed fuel maps. Unless this 2nd generation piggyback has the fix for that, it is still useless.

Remember that they dont run OBD2 ecu's in Japan.

NEWS FLASH: The ECU does NOT ignore the MAF!!!

That is how the computer knows how much fuel to put in the engine, open or closed look...how else would it know how much fuel to add? RPM's? I think not.

All the S-AFC does(basically) is tells the computer to that there is more of less air than what is actually there, resulting in more or less fuel being injected.

that's kinda what i thought but wasn't sure. it does ignore the o2 sensor and possibly a few others, however.

news flash!!! It ignores all the fuel sensors exept the ones needed for cumbustion. The MAF isnt one of the most important ones anyway. Remember some of the sensors we have arent needed for the engine to work but just for enviormental puposes.

But since im not the all knowing protege guy, I can just say, If you can prove me wrong then do it! If it works good! If it doesnt I TOLD YOU SO!

If someone in San Diego wants to try it give me a call i can work out a deal with the parts and installation. 760-787-5759.

Oh, forgot to add. I have a ECU wiring diagram for the SAFC-II for the Japanese FS engine. If someone has a handy copy of the MSP pin diagram for the ECU, I could compare them and see if everything matches up.

Even for us NA guys this looks really cool

Yeah, everyone would benefit from this. I mean, nothing better than a nice ass fuel controller for 315 bucks. I mean listenb to this s***, the new SAFC-II can control fuel in 1% increments, instead of 5% like the old one. For turbo cars it has preventive function for engine stall due to blow-back during throttle return. You know what that means right? You can now run an atmospheric BOV without the threat of anything stalling. I mean, it usually only stalls under severe conditions, but this would end the threat of engine stall.

Maybe some of you knowledgeable tuners on this board can remap the fuel curves themselves and market a "reflash" to optimize performance on the MSP...cha-ching!!!! (thumb) Its sad when the tuners have to find a proper fuel map first...
