Newegg shipping Damage

wow, I am sorry but I am really surprise at this accusation. With our company approaching close to 2Billion dollars in sales, I don't think that we get here by selling already damaged goods and risking the chance of bad reviews. We have great relationships with our vendors, and we will NEVER sell anything that is damage. Even our returns are inspected before accepting and we states clearly on our website all the terms and conditions. We can't speak for what happen once the case is loaded in the ups truck. We honor all products for returns and exchange as long as it's within our warranty period. I really don't know what else you can ask for. I think I am going to stop here now.

Well, take a look from my point of view.
Computer case deal to good to pass up at $69.99 - $10 instant - $59.99 rebate. So free basicly.

Now the rebate is only good for one week and the reciept must be submitted in 20 days from purchase and have an original receipt.

Now the case is shipped to me with damage that is physicly impossible to have occured in shipping. The case is no longer in stock so that I could NEVER possibly submit a recebate by the time I got another case.

Adding insult to injury, there is NO receipt or even a packing list on this box. It was just the PC case box with a packling sticker. That it, thus once again negating the possiblity of even getting a rebate.....

So what should I think?
I can't see shipping damage as this think basicly exploded from the inside out, nor can UPS cuase the fan to be installed to tightly, cracking the plexi. They also can not rip of the front cover at the top only.

Now if our positions were reversed and you were telling me a similar story I would be breaking my ass to be damn sure you got everything you were promised, not just a refund or an up in the air gamble. Also if it fell through I would provide the case to you at the rebate price so that you get exactly what you wanted for the price I sold it to you for, including rebates. I certainly would not hide behind overly elaberate policies that are grey area at best in this position and entirely designed to allow me to remove myself from the situation all together. Now you have a unique situation to help me and get a fabulous review for it, you can see to it that I get my case, and my rebate. Or you actively chose not to give a damn in which case, the reprocusion we be me essentialy never shopping with you again. Not that I even would bother creating the illusion that I have any impact on Newegg. Your call.

Also as far as not risking a bad review.........Lead, China, Toys. Companies that size get to that size and stay there by doing things exactly like this.

have you even called to see what they can do yet?
Yes, RMA, thus taking to long to get the rebate, which is out of stock.
They could not / would not answer the rebate questions, they pawn that to the Manufacturer. Even though it was a newegg exclusive rebate.

I have also inquired via email hoping to get someone that is more knowledgable respond.

Of coarse, the 20 days is ticking, 7 gone now.

Not to mention the 15% restocking fee so I get to give them money for sending me a known damaged item....awsome.

give me the SO #, I'll take care of the Restocking. If you don't have enough time to take care of rebate, I'll see if I can extend the time for you. how's that as service? =p Also, you can print the receipt online as prove of purchases.

If I could purchase, package, and ship you a knob job...for that I would.

I would be 90% satisfied if anyone could just say with certainty that if I wait for the new case, that I will still get the rebate or that, "flat out" it is just not possible and that I should take a refund.

My concern is that it is usually a 3rd party company processing rebates and they will disqualify it for a lack of an original receipt, usually not printable, and a post marked envelope by a certain date by which I have 13 days left to get. If you can send me a non damaged case and an original receipt in time, then that is all I should need.

I just need some solid info really.

order #: 80914446

I had a similar experience (not at newegg and not as bad, just the front was broken off and there was a dent) with a free after rebate case. They are often made from much weaker materials and poorly packaged. When I got it the box looked fine but the case had been bouncing around inside it getting damaged. The only person to blame is the manufacturer. Its not like newegg is the one assembling and packing the case. I'm not saying that is the case in your situation, you never described the packaging or mentioned the brand of the case.

It sucks they don't have the case anymore but imagine if you had bought it at bestbuy and it was out of stock when you went to exchange it. They would say sorry, and maybe give you a refund. I say maybe because when I tried to exchange something at bestbuy they accused me of switching the item and refused to refund my money. I even called their corporate HQ and told the story to a few different levels of management and they also refused to give me anything. I ended up disputing with my CC company and never shopping there again.

Also you can almost always get them to wave the restocking fee unless you are just returning something because you decided you don't want it.

I wouldn't start accusing them of selling damaged goods without any proof. That is just BS to me, they are a very reputable company.

for this order, we didn't charge you a restocking fee, so no refunded needed on my end. Now this case has an ETA of 12/18/07. If you want to wait for it, be my guess. I can also change it and give you a full refund. Please let me know what you want me to do. UPS label has already been issued to you, and sent to your email address. As soon as you return the damaged case to us, we'll credit within 3-5 days.

As for the original receipt, you can go to www.newegg.com and under order history, you can print out your invoice. We are an online company, so that IS your original receipt. We've processed over 10million mail in rebates under the same methods so you can rest assure that if you do decide to apply for the mail in rebate, you will get it as long as you follow the instruction and send in all necessary infomation.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with. I don't work for customer service, but we work very hard to keep all our customer happy.

The problem with that is it qualifies this situation as a "bait and switch" and essentialy consumer fraud. Especialy where I can not seen any way this item was damaged like this in shipping and I honestly believe, its condition was known by newegg when shipped to me, hence the rebate in the first place. They were hoping to move a load of damaged goods and then people would either send them back as damaged so that they can go after UPS or file it as a loss. Or they are hoping people just keep it since it ends up being $15 for a functional yet beat to crap case.

So if I can not get this case, and the rebate, I will consider filling a complaint with the powers that be in Whittier CA. Not just Newegg

Newegg didn't manufacture the case. They got it from the manufacturer, and shipped it to you. I don't see why you are insisting that they knew about the damage. [sarcasm]I'm sure that Newegg has the time to open up the box for every single product they get to see if there is a large number of a certain item that came from the manufacturer damaged, so they can put a huge rebate on it to sucker people into purchasing them. [/sarcasm]

As per your claim that the damage could not have possibly been done by UPS....UPS routinely does some pretty amazing things to a package.

Yeah, it sucks that the case you got ended up being damaged. But what else do you want them to do? They've already offered you a complete refund, which is more than a lot of other companies would do. What else do you want Newegg to do for you?

Get your refund, and check next week on Newegg's site. They are always having crazy deals on cases like that.

Jo, thanks for helping. Obviously shipping out on the 18th, getting to me on the 21st, will be too late to submit the rebate form so I will not get it.
If you can assure me I will get a refund even though the time period has expired, I will wait for the case. However, if you can not, I would like the refund.

Thank You for getting involved.

A company would have the time to repack an item that had many returned units that were damaged or that they made a deal with the manufacturer to get rid of. This kind of thing actually happens a lot in various industries. I am not saying this is the case here but it could be. I have certainly seen it before. There are a great many scams companies could use. I remember for a while about 3 years ago we were getting a certain line of products shipped from a competing companies wearhouse and not from the manufacturer. The manufacture had been using this other company to hide theirl losses by shipping thousands of units out and showing them as sold, when indeed they were just being held else where and no money had actually changed hands. Both companies went out of business and where prosecuted by the federal government. Again, I am not saying that Newegg is doing this...its just the stuff I have seen routinely enough to be suspicious of the too good to be true deals.

perhaps I am being a knob, however, I felt that I wanted this case at that price (including rebate) more then the money it cost me. So why would I be 100% satisfied to just have the transaction wiped out?
Considering case>money....I want the case but not for an extra $60 that not getting the rebate would make it cost. I don't think thats unreasonable, nor do I expect that there is anything Newegg can actually do about it as Raidmax would have to be the one to honor the rebate. I doubt new egg is willing to pay the $60 difference. it would be incredible if they were, and in my company we have, however I do not insist or expect it from Newegg in this matter.

Jojo and his coworkers have been very nice to deal with. It does concerns me that most every case you look at under the reviews tab, is 1/3 of the time received damaged. This tells me that the packing they are sent in is just not enough for an item of this wait and size, yet is this flimsy.
Guess I will have to try again....Although I have a feeling Newegg may wish i go else where next time

remind me tomorrow to change your exchange to a refund because it's it's shipped it's too late for me to get the refund for you.

I apologize for your unhappiness but I honest don't know what else we could've done. I promise you that we will not ship damage item knowingly and with processing over 5000+ orders/day, we can't speak for ups that they will have every item deliver perfectly since we don't own ups.

Thank you for the straight answer.
But are you sure about that?
Your site is now saying that the case is back in stock?

You have been very helpful and I understand this is all that you can do in the situation.

One last annoyance for you, can I just give the case to our UPS pick up or do I have to go to a UPS store?

if the item is back in stock, you can call customer service and tell them to ship the case to you ASAP so that you can process the MIR. I don't deal with RMA much so I can't speak for them. For the ups label you can give it to any ups truck or store, or when the ups guy drop off your new case, you give him the damage one.

Here is what I am getting via your rebate department:
"We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. Normally, the mail-in rebate would not be applicable if an RMA was issued for the item. Please email the manufacturer at raidmax@rebateinc.com to check if they will honor the rebate. If not, please feel free to contact us, and we will then be able to further assist you accordingly. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding"

We both know calling Raidmax will get me as far as smashing my head against a wall until I pass out. I am just calling this one dead unless I can get something in writting saying the rebate is still applicable and if it is not I will be rembused for it one way or another.

UPS just picked up the case.

In any event, thanks for the attempt.

Now I'm really confused. You returned the case, but still want to get the rebate?

i think he wants to get a new case of the same one sent to him and have the rebate that was offered on the original case still apply to it. since the purchase date of the new case will be outside of the rebate period the original rebate won't apply
