newbie looking for honest answers

hey guys...I was browsing this forum for a little bit. I currently have a saturn and looking to sell it and buy an M6i. Can you guys tell me what you honestly think of the car? I know your gonna say I love it...yada yada yada...lol

But can you give me some of the "downfalls" to the 6i ?

I appreiciate all the responses...thanks in advance!

I haven't test driven one yet but my friend that is a die hard VW fan mentioned it was extreamly uncomfortable and the auto tranny sucked big time.

The only downfall to it I know of for sure is the lease price SUCKS!

I test drove it. Very nice interior and looks gorgeous. As for the drive...ehh...it was okay. Nothing spectacular. I'm used to my MP3, so I may be biased, but it felt very heavy and sluggish. It didn't react well when I stepped on the gas. Took a second to really pick up. I didn't get a real good test drive in, seeing as I did this at the makeshift track at Mazda Rev It Up. I haven't heard of any problems with the car from any owners, although it's still early. If you take a test drive I'm sure you'll get a better feel for it than I did.

well, if I DO buy the M6i, it will be a manual tranny.....no dealing with the sluggish auto's LOL

I want to take a test drive this week. I guess I will let you guys know my opinion....

The only thing that scares me about 6i is it's only a 4-cylinder on a fairly heavy vehicle (But it has been in Japan w/ only the 4-cylinder for a couple of years). I traded my 2002 Protege5 in on my 6S and the 6S completely destroys it in speed, acceleration, comfort, and road noise. I think that the Protege5 had a better suspension setup, but the 6 is no slouch either. It really is a "driver's car" and completely destroys anything in it's class (Accord, Altima, etc.).

If you get the 6i make sure you get the manual - The lack of hp will be very noticable.

The car handles like a champ - It's not 0-60 racer by any means - but it feels absolutly amazing when your just cruising and taking the turns.

Problems
- Mine came with a bad ecu - had to be replaced
- Throttle Lag is annoying when you really need/want to go.
- No Nav yet in the states.

I was not impressed with the 6i. It seemed slugish even with the manual tranny, almost like it wanted to go, but it was bogged down. I love my car stereo, and the fact that i would have to buy a whole new dash to put an aftermarket deck in is ridiculous.

that is one of the things that remains on my mind about the 6. The simple fact that it will be difficult to install my aftermarket radio....damnit! lol

I've had two M6 loaner cars while my MSP was at the dealer. Both cars had the CEL come on while driving, and both were very sluggish. The dash thing worried me, too... If I were to buy a M6, I'd definately want a new stereo, as the one both loaners had completely lacked. You'd have to find a good installer to make a custom dash kit for the radio. *shrug*

I do love the headlights, though.

And in another post someone mentioned that the SPORT package's (not the standard version) gauge cluster was inconvenient. Not to mention it's not included in the 0 APR.

Having said that....I am a professional driver (like on-road, not track). The other guy who drives with me drives a saturn. Maybe ion, I dont know. He HATES the saturn after driving my 5. Mazda suspension I LOVE.

The Mazda6i, hmm i would say kinda slow. I just bought a mazda6 s and it's good, but 6 cylinder meaning it's gonna eat your gas like hell if you like to travel. The only downfall i have about the mazda 6 is red gauges and gas. that's about it. But The mazda 6 i is more for family like. Need for speed i say. Get the mazda6 s, you'll like it better than the "i" series. ciao for now good luck.

the money is the key....the "s" might be a tad too much for me. I still have to go to a dealer and price out both series

the CEL is concerning me though. I've heard that's the main issue with the 6.

Kits are in the works from Metra & Scosche. Should be available by Septempber or October...
