newbie and my speed is broke

Thanks to all for having this forum and participating in it there has been some helpful info. I got my wife a speed a couple weeks ago a 3.5 gray one. Love the car even though the alarm module had to be replaced - lights stayed on when alarm was armed no big deal but I asked the dealership about a knocking noise while there. Well with only 500 miles on the car they say a rod went and Mazda is shipping in a new motor and want mine to go over so no speed for a couple weeks I guess :'(

Wow, that sucks. No mods were done to your car, were there? I'd assume not since it's only been 500 miles. I wonder when I'll have that problem...

No it still was drivable it only knocked on acceleration around 3 grand but it didn't sound like a rod luckily it didn't throw the rod into the side of the block. My dealer was going to order parts to rebuild but mazda told them not to touch it and send it back to them.

if an egine dies with less then 5000 kms or 3000 miles on it, it should be returned and a whole new car given to the customer.

Why not? The engine is the most important thing is it not?

I got a new tv....the tube had a flaw in it.....they gave me a new tv. Should be no different.

This knock you speak of sounds like what my motor is doing and Mazda told me it was normal even though my first motor did not have it?Yes,I said first motor!I'm on my second too!Make sure to tell the service guy's not to scratch up your baby like they did mine when replacing the motor!They scratched all the plastic,the core support,an left all kinds of stuff out of place from where it was originally.I'm still finding things like this 2 months later!

damn that sucks. the rod was probably badly machined. my cousin had his type r motor fully built and the stupid shop machined a rod badly....made a knocking noise around 3k rpms. they also put his camshafts in backwards and ruined his entire head.....uhhh go figure on that one. at least it sounds like mazda is gonna give you a new car

Sorry to hear about the engine. I was wondering if you could tell me about the problem you had with your alarm module. My car has just started to have the tail lights stay one after unlocking the car and the buzzer in the car sounds when you open the door. Is this what yours was doing?

Thanks for any details, I'm trying to get it fixed without going through the typical 6 trips to the dealer before it does it for them.

Delivery Guy your alarm problems were exactly the problems I was having plus when the alarm went of it was a constant horn blast . Try locking the car with the key in the door and the lights will go out most of the time.At least it will save your battery until you can get to the dealer.

I just got it back last night DAMN IT

The whole reason why I got this car was to get rid of the headaches that my other one has caused me. If this keeps up, I'm outta here w/ Boost

funnylittlman, It was a tin knocking sound kinda like a heat shield rattling. Just got a call from my dealer and Mazda says 2 more weeks before I get my motor. They are shipping it from Japan straight to Chicago. The car will be in the shop longer than I have had it in my garage. (bang) (argh)

hey jpete...i have had the same problem w/my motor and i own an mp3...knockin noise at or around 3grand and accelerating...and im on my 3rd motor..first 2 did the same thing...first one actually lasted for 26000 miles and then the 2nd only lasted 7000...got bout 4500 on this motor and just wonderin if it is going to do the same or not...motor and everything is bone stock...i must be getting a bad end of the stick here and good luck on getting ahold of anyone where they send the motor off to and see whut the problem might be cause we have made a couple of calls for the past month and still no response yet on the 2nd engine that mazda wanted back to see why this keeps happening to me

well i won't hold my breath for an answer than. sorry to hear about your motors. do you think it was a bad rod making your noise?

yeah they said that the main bearing inside the engine were spinning and they have yet to figure out why...i was supposedly told by some guy that worked at the dealer that either im rappin the rpms out too much which i dont do or that i downshift too much...which i havent done for well over 15000 miles...cause i am new to a stick w/this car and yes i would downshift sometimes to slow down...but i mean its not like i would make it downshift and jump the rpms up to anything over 3500...but yeah they said that the rod was just making a knockin noise...and they werent sure why it was doing whut it was doing other than after the 2nd motor...mazda wanted the whole motor in tact so that they could look at it...well i got the last motor put in sometime in the middle of may and well..called them at the end of may and well..have yet to hear any response yet..but good luck to you...at least urs can apply towards a lemon law...not sure how it is in ur state tho but good luck
