Hi everyone,

I new on this board but Ive been reading a lot of the topics for the past mouth and decided to join your wonderful mazda community.

I bought a brand new red P5 six months ago and I have to say its one of the best day in my live :D so far! Its my first car and im glad I waited (the first one is always special!).

I just have a question... I got an half inch scratch on my front bumper and was wondering what I could do to? Should I just try to use touch up paint? The scrath is directly on the bumper and Im wondering if the paint is going to stay? I dont really want to spend a lot of money on it.

Any input would help

Thanks

Cloud

Welcome and ouch!

Zoom zoom to you too, cloud.

I had an incident with a parking lot pillar, and it left a 2 inch scratch, I used touch up paint, it worked well, just remember to paint it thin and let it dry, the surface is not as even and flat as the original paint, but it should not be too noticable.

Thanks for the quick response and the warm welcome. So from your personal experience the touch up paint did a good job. Just by curiosity, how much did you pay for the bottle of touch up paint and how much time you have to wait to let it dry?

The touch up paint you should be able to get it from your sales rep for free, or pay for $10? I don't know, I just bugged my sales rep until he gave me one.

As for drying time, I would say give it 1 or 2 hours, some will say a whole day. I did not wait that long myself, that could explain why the surface is not very even. :p

Cloud, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. (stash)

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!! (stash)

As fore your questions.....use touch up paint...as mentioned put it in in multiple thin applications...after you have it all built up you can get some VERY fine sand paper (600 to 1000 grit wet and dry) and using it wet sand the area perfectly flat...then use a polish and glaze to bring it back to a mirror finish...then wax it and be happy....it won't show at all.

the bottles of touch up paint are available at the dealer for $3.60

Welcome to the forum Cloudpump! Just in case your dealer asks for it, the paint code for your car should be on the inside of the driver's side door I believe.
