Newb Question..

<<also an newb>>
From what I've gathered there are a few more measurements you have to consider...

First, the 'offset'. This is a measurement of the distance from the center of the rim to the mating surface of the rim. I'm 98% sure the stock wheels have an offset of 52.5mm (meaning the part of the rim that actually touches the hub is 52.5mm from the center of the rim. The width of the wheel will not effect the offset but by using a different tire width you may need to use a different offset. Also, it seems that it's not a big deal to use slightly different offsets, I think I lot of people use wheels with a 48mm offset.

There's also the 'bore/hub diameter'. This is how big around the hole in the center of the wheel is. The bore of the wheel must match the hub on the car. I have no idea what the hub size is on our cars. If the hole in the wheel is too large I think spacers are used. If it is too small you can have it 'bored out' to make it larger. Keep in mind that boring out will reduce the strength of the wheel at least some.

After that, make sure you have the correct lug size and number. Mazdaspeed3 wheels need to have 5 lug holes with a diameter(?) of 114.3mm (4.5in).

Check out this info at tirerack.com for pictures and better explanations...

Does anyone know what the bore diameter is? Never really thought about this on my other cars but I think there are some rims like Rota's that wont work with the MS3 becuse of the bore diameter.

67.1 mm bore. Most tuner wheels are 73 mm, so you order a set of 73/67.1 mm concentric centering rings.
