New wheels

Indeed the RX8 wheels are as heavy as the stock MS3 but they are wider 18x8 with 225x40x18 rubber(Dunlop)

The RX-8 stock wheels are not the same weight as the stock MS3 rims. The stocker RX-8 rims @ 18x8 +50mm offset weigh approx 22.5 lbs with a variance of around .3 lbs. The stock MS3 rims @ 18x7 weigh 24.1 lbs. Thats a pretty decent difference. I run my stock RX-8 rims as my winter rims on my MS3. Once the summer hits I'm looking at a lot of options. Any rim I get will weigh less than 20 lbs. My current summer/track RX-8 rims are Enkei's that weigh around 18.5 lbs. There is definitely room for hugh rotational/unsprung weight loss on the MS3.

IIRC, the wheels posted on this page were 25 or 26lbs when I looked at them. I wanted to go lighter and was unsure of the offset. My current set are a tick under 18lbs a wheel. Felt a HUGE difference.

Hello everybody!

I have a question that I am not 100% sure belongs on this thread. But, it is pertinent to wheels. I was perusing the tires/suspension thread on this forum but found no similar topic (or perhaps I wasn't looking hard enough). And since this thread is about purchasing new wheels, I thought I'd ask.

Anyway, here is my question.

I am wondering about the tire pressure monitor on the MS3. Are there rims out there that are still compatible? What is about the rims that make them compatible or is it the rim at all? Also, if purchasing new rims, is it even worth it to try to keep the monitoring system?

If these seem like noobish questions I apologize as I am noob as well. Still trying to learn as much as I can so I can make an informed decision in purchasing a set of wheels and tires.

Your input is very much appreciated.

If you call tirerack they should be able to tell you. I just recieved a catalog from them and it actually shows what wheels are "TPMS" friendly. The TPMS friendly symbol seemed to follow manufactorer vs. wheel style. I.e. All ASA wheels are TPMS friendly.

Damn those stock weight make those wheels some heavy fuggers, but if you can pick them up used for a good price I say go for it man. Anything less that 18lbs for an 18 inch wheel is great.

those do look good. I looked, but I couldnt figure out what the name of those wheels are? What size and offset did you order on yours.
Thanks, and good choice. I like those who arent sheep and make their own decisions. It also helps when that person has taste:D
