I am having a problem with my turbo. It will boost and then drop back to 0 even if im being hard on the gas. Im pretty sure its the actuator/wastegate. Anyone have any idea how hard it is to put a new actuator on the turbo...does it involve taking the turbo apart?? Is it easier just to get a new turbo? Any input at all would be helpful. Thanks

does it get to full boost, or just a few psi?

Are you sure you don't have a vaccum leak? Much more likely than a bad wastegate actuator, although that isn't out of the realm of possibility.

yea, im sure its not a vaccuume leak. I changed all the lines after it started doing what its doing. Its comming from right there at the turbo area. The only thing in that area I didnt replace is the coupling for the air going into the turbo. I didnt have any more couplings to change it to so i was kinda stuck there. But I talked to someone else on here who said that they had the same problem and it was the actuator.
And for the preson who asked about mods...none rescent enough to cause the whistling. But I have intake, FMIC, and boost controller, and a bov/bpv setup

Do you hear any sounds coming from up front? Could it possibly be the front pipe of the fmic coming apart? Mine came apart just slightly, so I was able to drive normally, but when I got in boost, it separated, and would not hold boost. But there was a loud pssssssst sound.

no..if i leave my boost controller down, then it whil whistle under idle up to about 10 vac and then it sounds fine. I dont notice any weird sounds when it hits boost. I cant check right now because im overseas and im trying to have the parts i need when i get home or soon after
