International CXT (Commercial Extreme Truck)

International is unveiling its new pickup, the largest ever. The International CXT is nearly twice the size of a Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup -- and it makes full-size SUV's look like Mini Coopers. <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 align=right border=0><TBODY><TR><TD></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

It's the first pickup from the commercial vehicle company in three decades. The truck, that the company calls the world's biggest production pickup, is being produced in Texas.

Born out of a 20-ton hauler and other International severe service trucks used by the construction, government and waste industries, the International CXT is built on the same platform as dump trucks and snowplows.

The front of the CXT looks like International's other heavy duty trucks. But it can seat five and boosts such creature comforts as a flat screen TVs, DVD players, leather seats, a fold-down bench that can be used as a bed and a satellite radio system.

The company says the truck hauls three times the payload of consumer pickup trucks, is all-wheel drive, uses air brakes and offers towing, dumping and tilt bed capability.

Rob Swim, International's marketing director, said the monster pickup will appeal to image-conscious contractors and other small business owners.

"While there is nothing tougher or more extreme on the market than the International CXT, it is as much a statement of success as it is performance. If you brought this truck to the playground, you'd be king of the dirt pile," Swim said.

But they'll need thick wallets. Prices for the CXT start at more than $90,000 and can easily top $100,000 with options. Then there's the cost of a fill-up. The truck gets just 7 mpg of diesel.

International officials expect to sell nearly 100 CXT's this year. To learn more about this monster of a truck, click here.

Hooooly s***. I pray somebody figured out how to hack into internationals website.
NOPE, its the real thing....I read an article with information from Int. they are actually targeting businesses with this thing that have a need to pull big trailers and the like....businesses that just don't want your average 1 ton truck pulling their stuff around.....businesses that want go get noticed.

they are looking at selling about 100 this year...and up to 500 next year.

at 1st I thought....wow, cool. Then I thought about the typical suv driver. Do we really want them driving around in 25,000 lbs trucks?

oh man would I have fun with that thing..

beware of stupid soccer moms driving that thing.. LOOOKOUUUUT!

s***, that's the truck I saw yesterday around my town!! I was coming up from behind it and the thing just looked huge and freakin tall. It looked lifted, but stock, and it was just imense-I was really confused as to what it was. I had to exit so I didn't get a good look at the front but Damn!!

No newf. they say a standard non commercial licence is fine.

We're all gonna die. It's just that simple. We're dead. No more compact cars on the road.

I thought it was a joke because of the horrible photochop of the f-350 bed attached to the int. front end with the very badly inserted background.

porkchop sandwiches!

good thing the industry made it just below the limit so jackasses wont need to learn how to drive the largest consumer road vehicle yet.

That thing is disgusting..
I never thought i'd see the day where the hummer and excursions are dwarfed.
It's funy but everytime i see a new vehicle like this it makes me want to get a hybrid vehicle.(shrug)

I SAW ONE the other day! It's friggin' HUGE! It went by and I got a slight glimpse, I was like "damn, that's a big chevy". Then I got a good look in my mirror. Looks like it uses a chevy dually bed. It's why I thought it was a chevy at the first glimpse.

If it is rated at 25,500 pounds, isn't that dry weight? I sure as hell know that isn't with it full of people or with anything in it.

So if it is rated at 25,500 punds, you put in a driver, full tank of gas, a few kids and what? something in the back to haul...that could easily put you over 26,000 pounds.

I don't like the idea simply because even right now we have a bunch of rich soccer moms driving these H2's who can't drive for s*** already. Now let them get ahold of this thing....maybe its size will scare the average idiot off.

It's a low production at least(100/yr), and I'm sure the price will hopefully turn most away.

didnt' it say that it has air brakes? I thougth you need to get a different license for trucks with air brakes??? Maybe it's just in CA?

any of you guys ever seen a ford F-650 short bed pickup? Now thats a big ******* truck! There is a black one in my town. Massive wheels. Massive twin stacks on it..If you look up into the cabin, it has a A-pillar full of gauges. There is a little sticker on the back left window that say says "11 Seconds of Fury." I'm trying to find one on ford's site but I can only find the comercial body ones. This had a short step-side style body. Price tag easily over 120k. What sucks about these big trucks, you have to have a CDL license to drive one. Still..something about 50+psi of turbo diesel strikes my fancy.
