New Toyota AE86. Priced at $12,300 USD...What do you think??

they should definitely sell it as a scion. call it the aE. and if the engine is as smooth as the old 4AG, and revs to 7500+, tell me where to sign. just don't put a frickin camry engine in it like the tC has. blech.

Under-powered, RWD, Scion tC FTW....not

and why would they only put in a 120hp engine? the camary engine makes 154 hp and they make a ton of those. think about the new rav4, that thing has like 260 someodd horse power.

and that, folks, is why all we get nowadays are bloated, 3000+ lb cars. all anyone cares about is how many hor5ep0w3rZ their car has. and we wonder why the "american car buyer" stereotype is still prevalent.

the old RWD corolla made 112 in a 2200 lb car. the story on this one says 120hp in a 2200 lb car. sounds perfect to me. better than another overpowered, overweight FWD car. my miata is a ton of fun with a worn-out engine that only made 116 when new. somehow i don't think it would be as entertaining if it had 160 hp and was 500 pounds heavier.

The gray concept's lines follow the 6 hatchback lines and resonate with me. If Toyota is sincere about performance, they won't saddle the car with weight. As far as output, I hope they stick at least a 2ZZ-GE engine in there for USDM. For real laughs, supercharge that 2ZZ and you have yourself a poor man's Elise/Exige.

They wont use the 2ZZ...they dont even use it in any of their cars anymroe due to emissions restrictions

I am the target market. I would sign on this car immediately, tomorrow, the next day. It will be the ONLY inexpensive car worth buying for a car enthusiast (currently produced ). Keep it under or around ~18k.

Well said. Exactly what I was thinking.

I like it. If they keep it light it will keep with the legacy of the old Corollas. The Miata and S2000 don't have a lot of power but they're light and handle curves like no one's business. Think of what makes a car fun. The P5 is a dog yet still brings a grin across my face when I pitch it into a turn.

you know, I know it looks like a TC, but you gotta admit, toyota finally came out with a car that doesnt look absolutely horrible...this one looks pretty good!

good job Toyota!

for that price i'd be seriously interested. living in the NE it's tough to have a DD that is RWD. keeping it priced that low makes it look like a great second car

If the rumors of Subarus involvment in this are true, it'll be very interesting to see if this actually happens.
