New Toyota AE86. Priced at $12,300 USD...What do you think??

looks like the new civic...Kabura instead please....

looks pretty good. honestly for all these cars (wrx, evos, hachis, etc.) i like old school better. cant beat the one that started it all xD plus i love the pop up lights from the 86 and the FC xP

Def has potential. Could do much better than scions too, mostly in the warm weather states though. A light rwd car won't exactly cut corners in the deep snow we get here sometimes.

eh. too much like the already existing tC for me...i though this was supposed to be "interesting"

lol...(mswerd)...I remember seeing that article on one of the mags in the conbini (convenient store)...I'd still take the old one...it's hard to shake off that retro 80's character...These days it seems Toyota can't make a car without elephantiasis...bloated and fat looking...although I dig some of there "JDM" only models...In anycase, the AE86 was made in a time when the cars were a bit more simple...a bit more pure...and THAT is why a new version will never compare.

Start fresh Toyota...;)

Great concept on paper but that looks like a Scion.... meh.

My semi-realistic wet dream for a daily driver/toy would be a) Toyota, Honda, or Mazda b) RWD c) seating for 4 adults plus decent cargo room d) sub 2600 pounds e) sub 20K base price f) interesting slightly retro styling

Yeah, they should better name this the next Celica instead of AE86.
Compare to other retro style cars (Mini, Beetle, Mustang, 08Camaro, Challenger), this one doesn't look like its old counter-part at all.
It looks more like the 2nd generation Celica.

I'll buy one the day they are announced to be for sale in the states!!!

Then put a 2J in that biotcha.

The first pic is not bad(silver),not diggin 2nd one(red) because it looks so much like the Camry in the front and the rest of it like a Solara/Civic/Celica mix.

As long as it's RWD,affordable and has two versions like the old 86(Levin and Sprinter Trueno),I might get it next.

If they bring it over here, which I doubt they would seeing as we never get the bad ass cars in the U.S. then I would most definately take one.

And I don't mind the look of either in the tc form or the second form. The second picture kind of looks like an RSX to me.

All set on this one.

But still pretty cool.

If it's rwd it will sell...

oh hell yeah...In japan those kids will eat this thing up and I am sure when it becomes modded it could be a beast (like anything else when you put enough money into it). But still 120 hp at the crank stock is pretty weak...nowadays car companys can afford to make engines with a lot higher horsepower that still have gas saving technology so it is sad to see such low numbers on a new car.

i think this is bs. ae86 is a chassis code from 25 years ago. why wouldnt they call itthe trueno sprinter or levin? and why would they only put in a 120hp engine? the camary engine makes 154 hp and they make a ton of those. think about the new rav4, that thing has like 260 someodd horse power. the old 4ag made that much in a 2100lb car. on the other hand it would be a good idea for toyota to make a small rwd car to compete with the new tiburon. i just dont see it happening

it would be awsome if i ended up being wrong though

1. Engine options

2. TRD aftemarket accessories

Put me on the pre order list...if they keep the weight that low and stick to the original AE86 recipe than i can see this car being a classic. Sure 120hp isnt much but just like every other toyota engine they arent pushed a whole lot from the factory so there is room for improvment. I think though that the 1.8L 1zz or the new 1.8L out of the xD would be a better choice.
