New (to us) 2019 CX-5

Hi everyone. New member here. My name is Marco and together with my wife Daisy we're living on our farm with our 4 horses (hence the towing capacity) and 4 cats in the Netherlands. Hope to spend some time on this very helpful Mazda forum.

We just bought a 2019 CX-5 2.5 a few weeks ago. We're loving the car so far (well I do, my wife still needs some time getting used to it).

A few questions if I may:

1. Is there a way to permanently disable the Istop and cilinder deactivation? It's both quite annoying and in my opinion doesn't contribute to anything except wear.

2. After the car was on power and you switch the ignition off there's a very loud whining sound coming from the back. It lasts for half a minute or so. I found it could be the PCB, PCM and other mainboards that are slowly turning off. Nevertheless I've never had this in any car ever, so I wonder if it's normal...

3. Any tips, suggestion or essential upgrades I should know about?

Welcome to the forum.
With I-Stop you have to disable it each time you start the car.
Cylinder deactivation cannot be disabled (as far as I know).

Love that color, also have a 19 but its the machine gray color. Has been very dependable.

What's the weight of the trailer and cargo combined?

In the US, Mazda tells us that the maximum weight is 2,000 lbs.

The maximum registered towing capacity of the car is 2000 kgs, so around 4.400 lbs (if the conversion is correct).
The total maximum weight of the trailer and load combined is 2600 kgs, so around 5.720 lbs, but we never get even close to that. The horse we (my wife) use the most weighs around 650 kgs I reckon (a little over 1.400 lbs) and with saddle, equipment and other stuff it's usually not more than 2.000 lbs, so wel within the legal limit.

It's pretty annoying and I've read it can be done by guys that do chiptuning (since they're already in there), but have no need for more power so that's not the best option for now. I've contacted someone who does this and apparently they're willing to deactive the Istop and cilinder de-activation 'if it's possible somehow' .... but I didn't like those last words, so haven't decided yet.

The color is very nice, especially in the sunlight. I once promised myself I'd never have a red car again EXCEPT when it was this specific color and I have zero regrets

I bit more actually, but that might be because we have no mountains or even hills here (really flat) so no problem towing the maximum allowed weight.

My last understanding of the whine noise after turning off the CX-5 was the fuel pump. I don't know why. For me, normal. Someone else here my know the reason.

Yes, fuel pump. I've had quite a few fuel-injected vehicles make that sound, including the Pontiacs that I used to drive. I remember it being pretty loud on my Grand Prix GT with the 3800 V6. Really liked that engine.

I had a Grand Prix GTP. Loved that car! With that lovely supercharger there was plenty of power to smoke the tires if one was so inclined.

I've never heard of a loud whining sound in the back. only towards the front, that clicks off, shortly, but it is not loud.

i don't know about cylinder deactivation, but the auto start stop is a good feature to have, because it reduces idling, which is unnecessary and wears the engine.

It's quite loud and clearly from the lower back half of the car.

The Istop is very annoying. It turns the engine on and off way too often, also just before you manually turn it off before patking the car and in my opinion wears the battery and starter unnecessarily.

But luckily there's options for everyone

Don't worry about the starter, it's designed to handle it.
