New to the protege5 and need help

well theres the svt and just the ST..the st is a tad slower than the svt focus, but responds a lot better to bolt ons whereas the svt is pretty much maxed out...i really like the protege5 interior and its all around looks, but the focus st is quicker and might be a little more fun..thats where im torn..im leanin towards the ST, unless i can find a good price speedprotege

i want to get as much power as i can without a turbo, someone gimme sum advice, i got my car sitting until aug. and am trying to increase her hp before then

Hey I am not dreaming in tech-color, I am just listing all the claims. They are in crank hp and people should know it does not just added up.

example:
stock hp 130
dyno whp 93

The ratio:1.3978

So if a header gives 15 hp, the it's probably more like 10 whp.

I should also mention some mods do not show on the dyno. Stiffer motor mounts will not show any better results of power on the dyno because you get it to a certain point to check the power. Where in the real world, engine movement or taking off from a stop can waste power. Lighter rotational mass in the form of drilled stock size rotors would show power lower in the the rpm range than 1 hp on the dyno. UDP allows the engine to rev faster, but if you have a stock exhaust and VTCS it will simply not do much. It will hurry through the range, but simply die 3/4 through the engine's range of power.

I think it depends on what you expect from the P5. If you love the P5, but think it needs a little refinement go NA. If you feel the P5 lets you down power wise and you wish you had another car; you need to decide to turbo or get another car.

lol I finally got to drive my P5 today (wife stopped hiding the keys) and noticed its not as quick as I thought. Its much quicker then my saturn vue with mods. But after driving my GAGT lol I was a little let down. But its still incredible on the corners (boom05)

Well let's check the power to weight

Grand Am GT1
curb weight: 2881lbs
hp: 175 hp
tq: 205 fl/lbs

Your P5
curb weight: 2716 lbs
hp: 162
tq: 171

The key is the Grand Am weighs only 165lbs more, but has 13 hp and 34 more ft/lbs of torque! It is also a V6, so it develops power lower in the rpm range then the 4 cylinder.

The Vue maybe have some decent power, but it weights a ton!

3825 lb(boom07)

lol I doubt the vue did... it had the 2.2L ecotec hah!
Wow only 13hp difference? hmm.. i'm going to have to take these both to the track to see which one does what. I can't believe the GAGT wieghs only a little more then the p5.. the gt feels like a boat.

(edit): The p5 is rated at 130 HP not 162.. unless your counting my mods, but I'm unsure what additions those would be.

Every time I drive my mustang I realize how slow 130hp really is. That car put down 293hp at the wheels in the heat of summer.
