Protege 5
Hey, just wanted to welcome my self to everyone.
Let me tell you that at first when I got the Protege 5 with my fiancee I was a bit hesitant about it but after I had broken in the engine and was able to go hard on it, I fell in love with the performance of it. The car handles so well and at the same time is comfortable. Not to happy about the power of the engine but the way the car handles makes up for it.
Now I just gotta resist the mod bug because the reason I got rid of the Denali was to save up money for my new place with my fiancee....damn..the temptation.

Welcome!(hi)
Got any pics of your P5?

You'll save enough money on gas alone to buy yourself an intake in no time!:D

welcome to our board...... before long temptation will overtake you and you will be modding your car like crazy. most of us say we arent going to but it always happens.

Welcome, Protege 5s are cool cars, I hope you like your car and keep it for a long time :D

Thanks for the welcome. Been surfing this site for over a month.
Ya, I'm already seeing how much money I'm saving on gas compared to when I had the Denali. With the Denali I was spending almost $500 (Canadian) on gas a month which wasn't making wifey to happy.
So we decided to get something cheaper but yet something that looked good so that we could by a new house. Unfortunately I couldn't get manual because she didn't want to learn....I'm loosing my call on things now :'(
No pics of the car yet, it's still a stock (for now)Lazer Blue P5.
IF I do anything, it'll probably be a small drop with rims and maybe a small sound system....and maybe a turbo kit....damn you P5 guys...I was supposed to be saving money here lol...
Thanks again for the welcome.

heh, in a years time el402 will have the best ride here and be single in a studio apartment. :P

welcome. and get that intake, header, and exhaust. then get your suspension and wheels upgraded. then get a nice stereo. you know you want to. like natey said, you have already saved enough in gas money. the rest of the savings get put back into the car!

dont tell her about the mods. mod everything you can without her noticing :D

Congrats on the new MP5, Its a great car. However leave this forum now, or you will be single. This forum is a very, VERY bad place for someone that "does not have the funds for mods." There are so many temptations out there, so many things that you find that you want to do. I have started a list of things that I will do then stop. It grows by about a mod a month! DAMN IT!!!!

351 posts. Registered 02-25-2002. Still stock. It's possible.

Of course it helps that I was unpaid for 6 of those months and out of the country without my car for the last 6 of those months.

LOL, I dont know how in the hell you made it that long without doing anything with your car. Every time I come on here I see such great mods and get ideas that make it so hard to resist. I really think Im going to set a mod budget (a final total) and when I reach that much spent I will stop. Now to decide on how much. Lets see the HiBoost kit is only 5k. . .

hehe....thanks again guys for the welcome and advice.
I think if anything I'll start off with a new headunit and then after the winter, rims and lower.....great, it's starting already.... :D

turbo may be a while off but watch out. talk to trav (deckedoutmp5) for details and sad stories about a turboed p5 auto.
as for saving money, this site can be good for you because you will learn what NOT to do and therefore save a bit of change, and the gas mileage is alright too.

so long '91 accord ~35 mpg w/170k mi on it. damn i loved that workhorse. oh well, time to start my new mod projects (oops...)

just remember this "everything she says is always right"

then she won't mind u moding it.

btw u need an architect for your new house?
