2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
Hello gents and ladies,
Just wanted to stop in, I recently traded an old foxbody mustang hot rod. For a 2003.5 Msp all stock, with a new engine. The chassis has 172k.
But all in all it is a great little car. I put a tank of gas through it so far, averaging 27.5 mpg with, lets say spirited driving and 1/2 of that tank was with a bad upstream o2 sensor.

I have a couple of modifications that I want to do, aftermarket pipes, cai, exhaust, and turn up the boost one or two pounds.
All in all, I am very satisfied with this car, handles likea dream and while it isn't a hotrod, it is respectable for a 4 cyl.

I've already be sneaking to and from a couple of threads, and just taking it all in.

I do have a couple of quick questions, I am new to turbos fyi. So this may sound noobie, what is the best way to install a manual boost controller, and can I install the boost gauge on any vacuum line. I was thinking off the tee, but I dont want to half ass anything.

Thanks for the advice,
Ricky

2003.5 MSP #50

Also as soon as I can I'll get some pics up.

Best way to run a vacuum source is with a vacuum block but if you just want to hook up a boost gauge to a stock MSP you can just T off any line on the intake manifold. Boost controllers go on the WGA vacuum line, I don't recommend manual boost controllers unless you are forged, electronic are not much more expensive and will save your motor in many cases.
