This is Mrs Comet (hardcore VW gal myself)...not sure what you mean by pnp tuner, but what he's talking about is referred to in the VW community as "a chip" because in the older ECUs, a physical chip needed to be soldered into the circuit board. In newer ones, you simply upload software that has an improved map. So something like that; much akin to what happens when I load a new file into my standalone's ECU. Not anything so wild that engine internals needs reworking; just a bit more than stock is what he'd be looking for. Or maybe the stock map is already optimum, but I'm guessing it's more conservative than it needs to be (as is the case with most manufacturers' maps.)
