New to board, Production number

hey bro glad to see a new member and it sounds like u got a lotta heart comin from iowa and still driving a msp :) keep it up. tac seems liek a good idea, i agree: for the sole purpose of a quick easy method of watchin the msp hit peak without takin eyes off the road. a shift light would be cool.

Welcome to the club.

SECOND, where at in IOWA..???

We could get a mazda chapter going in Iowa, if people were interested..

Let me know..

Kenetix

Actually what shop you talking bout???

Also to everbody who is talking s*** about Kenetix and his oversized TACH.. He'll be one of the few proud owners with an accurate tachometer.. These tacks are around 1000 RPM's off.

At least that's what it said when hooked to a SNAP ON tool!!

So why don't all you ricers SHUT the F&*( up

Welcome to the board...Your dealer also sold a black MSP to a guy in the state to the left. Said state's largest city also sports thee Orange MSP's mine included.

(The state left of Iowa is Nebraska for the geographically challenged)

:)

My girlfriend and I bought ours from Lujacks in Davenport, IA. As far as the shop goes, we're in between buildings seeing as how we had to get a new small business loan. I can still sling parts but most of my work I have to do at another building right now. I'm real good friends with Franco down here at Modern Image Signworks (You know, the guys from the F&F.) I'm not much into the big graphics and stuff but he does a really good job. The shop will be up and running again around next summer. It's been put on hiatus. I think jeckel needs to get his head out of his ass and quit with the flaming bulls***. Most people know these tachs are inaccurate below 1000 rpm and above 5000. But being the Learned scholar he is ......

Enough!...IGNORE the BS...it's that simple.

And guys...you don't need to mention in each new MSP thread how some members are a-holes...your just confusing the newbies and asking for more BS. Read the "side note" in my sig.

Welcome and please enjoy the site Kenetix :D

you are all right. i've seen the ways of my wrongs and will now go grab a shotgun and put the barrel in my mouth and pull the trigger with my toes. see ya all in SRT-4 heaven(upyours)

Not to flame or anything, but do you need to know the exact RPMs your at? Can you not tell when to shift by listening? IMO a large tach is pointless, as well is having an abundance of gauges when your not running any remarkable performance upgrandes...

Oh well, to each his/her/it's own.

do you people really think that Mazda is going to overlook something like the tach being so far off or uncalibrated like your saying? and who are all these people that know the tachometer's are wrong? this is the first i've ever heard about it

Yep, most OEM tachs are off. Almost always high on the idle and sometimes low nearing redline. Pretty easy to check with a good dwell or other types of computer.

It's the same or temp guages Most are intentionally set to go to the middle and stay there.

Both are done intentionally by manufacturers to reduce unneeded warentee claims. Seems counterintuitive doesn't it?

Of course who are we to talk technically speaking joining MazdaSpeed's parts program voids our warrantee.

not meaning to defend hondas but a lot of them need it as very very few hondas (other than the Si's and I think the newer EX's) actually have tach's stock

thats one thing. adding one and a "monster" one to a car that already has one is just retarded

If you don't agree with what someone is doing, SHUT the F*&( up. It's not your $$$, and sure isn't your car. So who the hell cares what someone does to their car.

Why don't you go tell that to an AutoXer that drives are 3rd gen protege.. You aint s*** pal.. Why come back to a forum if all your going to do is b**** and MOAN about someones wants & needs..

Grow UP!!!

you seem to a fair amount since you're all for the monster tach. but hey, its not your $$$ and sure isn't your car so who the hell cars what someone does to their car:rolleyes:

Okay, enough is enough. Jeckel, I understand your hatred for everything rice, but this isnt even about that. One of the best things you can do for you car is monitor it. And by that I don't mean idiot lights, I mean gauages. Sure, some people may think
its over done, but I see nothing wrong with an over sized tach, EGT, A/F, Oil pressure, voltage and other gauges.
At the least, these gauges can be used for looks, but my whole goal is tuning. You cannot properly tune a car without some sort of output from the car. When installing upgraded electronics, and internals, engine monitoring becomes a very crucial part in the tuning process. Personally it is cheaper and more cost efficent at the time to run gauges instead of a stand-alone engine managment device.

Gauges - One of the best tuning products you could ever invest in.
