Mill Creek, eh? I'm just a short ferry ride away.... I've seen an MP3 tooling around Everett a few times, but every time I've seen it I haven't been driving my car. Anyway, last November I bought a set of Avon Tech M550 A/S tires (Avon is a little British company that makes tires for vintage race cars) from Tire Rack. They're all-season, which worried me at first, but they've been fantastic. Dry-weather handling is unstoppable, on par at least with the stock Dunlops, perhaps better, although the sidewall is a little on the soft side. I've never had a problem with them in the wet, either - no hydroplaning or slipping at all even under hard cornering in the rain. And for the few days of snow we have each year here, they exhibit excellent grip with nary a skid - even without ABS. So although there is a bit of a performance loss with the all-season rating, I've found it to be minimal and really quite un-noticeable, and the added wet traction is, in my mind, worth the small sacrifice in dry performance. They were $106 a piece. Plus, it's kind of cool to see a 400-hp Porsche 911 running around Pacific Raceways with the same tires that roll under my car. Good luck with the search, and I hope our paths cross sometime soon on the road!
