new summer gummies

ok, so i'm looking for a new set of summer tires (for my stock wheels). i've got a few things in mind, but i'd really like some input. i REALLY like the Falken Azenis RT-615, but i'm a little skeptical on treadwear (only a 200 rating?). i want a good aggressive summer tire but it needs to be able to be daily driven (albeit not many miles) in the dry AND the wet. i'm also pretty serious about finding something that will last me more than a year. i have snow tires that i'll run about 4-5 months a year, but the rest of the time will be spent on whatever i buy for the stock wheels. in keeping with the "preserve my tire's life" theme, i would like to find an asymmetrical tread design so that i can cross them when i rotate them. directional tires are great, but cupped directional tires are annoying and uncomfortable. so my goal is to find an asymmetrical, performance oriented tire with good tread-life. what have you all run? what kind of driving did you do on them? how did they worked for you? and most importantly, how many miles did you get out of them?

a note on the azenis', may just be a fluke but fwiw, i bought a set for my boyfriends Legacy GT for AutoX. He used them for a full season of AutoX with daily driving as well, then i got them the next season (as they fit my MSP and he moved up a wheel size) and i used them for a full season AutoX and daily driven as well and they still had some tread left....it was into the wear bars in places, but definatly still drivable.
i was very impressed and am now running the 912's.

I have had the azenis for over 2 summers (around 6 months each summer), and been to over 6-7 tracks days with them so the treadwear isn't nearly as bad as it seems.

The Azenis RT-615 wear much better than the old RT-215. I had a set of the RT-215 tires that I wore down to nothing in about 11 months and 10,000 miles and probably a dozen autox events (3-5 runs each). I never actually wore out my RT-615 tires because I got a set of Toyo RA-1 tires to be my track tires and I gave my RT-615 tires to a fellow autoxer.

Just for fun, the new RT-615 vs the old RT-215:

And here's the difference in height between totally worn out Azenis and new Azenis:

And when I said I wore out my set of RT-215 tires, I meant it!

And I always found that the Azenis, especially the newer RT-615, to have great wet traction as long as you still had about half the tread depth left in the tire. I think they are a great tire. When I wear my current summer tires out, I might consider them again.
