New speakers

I just installed the following speakers:

Pioneer TSC1653 components for front 6 1/2 ( Had to create custom adapter out of hard board.
Pioneer TS-A6880R 6x8 4-way for back

I'm impressed with the difference in sound detail and bass with factory HU and no amp. Having problem with front door rattle when volume is 22+ and bass 2+. I used 10x10 inch SCOSCHE Accumate sound deadening material around all 4 speakers...Not entire door. Has anyone experience door rattle with new speakers? Any tips on reducing rattle?

Next project will be sub..might go with basslink..

Well, first you have to figure out where the rattle is coming from. It might be the door panel vibrating against the door itself or a thousand other possible places. Try pushing and holding in different places until the rattle stops. If it is from two pieces rattling against each other, place a piece of sponge/foam between them. If it's a panel vibrating, some sound deadener might be in order. Either way, once you get a sub, you can crossover those speakers so they don't get much bass and the rattle will be reduced.

yeah i deadened my doors and i still have a god awful rattle in my passenger side door with certian songs... also make sure you used the factory speaker covers (for inside the door) or some sort of device you made.... otherwise your speakers are going to get all wet..... and thats not good...

If you can't use the factory covers for whatever reason, the ones found here will work well: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-DA6ECqJAm1G/cgi-bin/prodgroup.asp?g=762&est=&search=speaker+baffle

Tsunami: What part of Maine are you from? I moved to Iowa from Maine about 3 years ago. Born and raised in Sabattus. Then moved around a bit to Auburn, Lisbon, and Monmouth before moving to Iowa when I was 29.

grew up in Bridgton (long/sebago lake area) have been living in the portland area for the last god 8 years now i guess (moved here when i was 18). though i am moving back in with the rents next month, got this crzy business op. with my old man, and we need to save some $$ to get things started, but hopefully it will be worth it... gonna be wierd for sure...

What do you mean the speakers will get wet? Do you mean that when it rains, the water gets into you door, and so on? If so that sucks. I was planning on replacing the speakers when I get my 3, if so I will definately have to keep that in mind.

Yes, they will get wet. Wait until it rains pretty good one day and then take your factory speakers out. You'll most likely find droplets of water on the covers. So, it would be in your (and your speakers') best interest to either use the factory covers or aftermarket ones of some kind.

I'm sure most cars let water into the door to some degree. Why else would there be drains at the bottom of the door? Don't get me wrong, water won't get in the car, just enter the door via the "squegee" on the outside of the window.

I knew that water gets down into your door, but I guess I just assumed that they would cover any electronics, such as window and lock motors and speakers. I should try taking my door panels off to check it out.

Not sure where the door lock motors are since I wasn't really looking for them, but I do remember seeing the window motor and it is on the inside of the inner panel of the door (mounted to the same panel as the speaker) so it's protected against rain. I'd imagine the door lock motor is similarly protected though.

What are the speakers stock size's?

Is it true all Mazda 3's have 5x7" speakers, so if u wanna put 6.5" speakers into the doors u have to make adapters?

6x8

They are 6x8, but 5x7 will usually fit.
i had both Pioneer 6x8 and Infinity 5x7/6x8 and the Pioneer is exact fit, Infinity a bit loose in the 6x8 cutout. Basket is a bit bigger on 6x8, woofer a bit larger too. The OE rain protector fits very nicely on 6x8s.

not to hard, remove the 2 screws one in the arm rest and one in the door lever both covered with a little pop up thingy... then just pull from the bottom left and work your way up and over.... its not to bad.. you may need to get a couple of the push pins used to hold the panel on from the dealership if you break em...
