Altright, so i have been pretty much against the ipod in the car, mostly because i am saving up for a carputer and i have no use for it.
Enter yesterday, i got a free ipod nano, and of course i need to hook it up to my car.
yes i searched here and in the "other" forum and found a few decent solutions, BadgerBiker has a great write up with the monster cable but the steering controls dont work. Other solution includes a few simple components PIE, and such. In the "other" forum there is evena vendor selling a complete kit very well priced, that i may even get if it wasnt back ordered.

Ok having this said, i found a NEW way to hook it up to the car and i think it maybe a winner.
Bluetooth transmitter/receiver. The BT receiver hooks up to the stereo through RCAs and the ipod hooks up to the BT transmitter through the line out.
It seems like a great solution, you could do a lot, like play songs form your BT enabled PC, or BT enabled phone, also maybe user stereo as speaker phone for your BT phone. These are speculations, but it could work.
A big thing for me is being able to use the steering wheel controls though. Dont know yet if thats possible.

Has anyone seen this solution before? I just saw it at best buy yesterday and forgot thre name, i am in the process of seraching it.

i am thinking the same thing... but you still need to be able to hook it up to your stereo i would think the 60$ auxmod would be the best bet there then go BT with your mp3 player into the receiver connected to the auxmod... it will save on some wiring and give a nice clean look... as far as steering wheel controls i doubt they will work sorry man....

damn you Tsunami, crushing my dreams.
nah, yeah i figured thecontrols wont work. it is a nice solution though, the BT receiver sits somwhere in the HU (probaly where the tape deck goes) and you are done.
Oh well. i have to figure out a way to hook it up cleanly. i dont like any of the solutions i have seen around. I dont want the ipod holder anywhere near the dash or the ashtray. i just dont know a logical place for it, istill want to be able to see the screen too.

steering wheel controls would never do the ipod justice though would they? i mean at best you'd be able to skip a song and control the volume. anything that involves the menu wouldn't be an option.

wouldn't any solution involving the auxmod at least let you control volume through the steering wheel?
