OK fellow "shade tree" mechanics, heres my little story of woe for all of you. I recently purchased a new leather shifter boot for my 97 Miata. After consulting my manuals I decided this was not such a hard thing to replace.....and it really wasn't! The problem I encountered was that a previous owner had also done so and when they did they broke off the two forward threaded mounting screws from the underside of the console itself. I attempted to super glue them back into place but to no avail. I am left with a pretty new boot that doesn't fit snug up against the underside of the console. So to close, does anyone out there in "Miata Land" have a source for a gently used center console for my tired old 97? I've looked on ebay and they have lots but they don't show the underside of the console and the plastic mountings still intact! My guess is that has been a problem intrinsict with this model / vintage and most will be found to be the same condition as my own. Alas good folks that is my dilema. I'm not looking forward to rummaging through junk yards for this piece but that might be the only way I can be sure of the part's continuity. HELP
