New Rim Help

hey ive been thinking about getting these rims http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=262 but i was wondering if they will fit properly on my msp eventually i am planning on going lower but for the time im at stock ride height.

Its gonna be pretty tight. 1/2 wider than stock, but offset moves wheels out 10mm (approx 3/8") so clearing the struts on the inside shouldn't be an issue. The extra 1/2" in width plus the add'l 10mm offset will put you close to the fender wells, so rubbing could be an issue and fender rolling would likely be required. It would more or less be like running a stock MSP wheel with a 20mm spacer. You may need to run a smaller outside diameter tire than stock. You might want to find a local wheel seller who would allow you to test fit a similar sized rim first. If the wheel were 7" and not 7.5" it would be a no brainer.

hub bore on the wheel is to small, the msp hub bore is huge. i have a set. that i can't use cause of that reason...
my set is 17x8 +48 they don't fit at all....

Hub bore on YOUR wheel may be too small... the listing he linked to said the hub bore on the set he's looking at is 73mm. The hub bore on my MSP is 67.1mm. In other words, the center hole on the wheel is 1/4" larger in diameter than the wheel hub. I'm sure that Rota makes wheels with lots of different hub circles.

EDIT: BTW, I was wrong in my above post when I said yours would stick out 1/4" more than the wheels on the Spicy; they would only stick out about 1/8" more.

so if i ran those wheels with a 35 or a 40 with a slight streched lip and slightly roll the fenders, found hubcentric rings i should be mint right

Thats a lot of ifs... especially IF you add the idea that you might wanna drop your ride height later. If it were me I'd prolly look for the same rim in a 48mm offset so I had a little more room. But yeah, they'd prolly work with rubber band tires and a fender roll and a stiff suspension.

truth i'm dumb(doh)

Yep... you still get 7.5 inch wheel width, so more rubber on the road, but less clearance issues at the fender if you go lower. Again, go look at the pic of the Spicy I linked to (post #5 above). He's got 17 x 7.5 by 48mm offset and running 215/40 tires. And he looks to be about 1.5" lower than stock. Judging from the "rake" he's got going on, I'd bet he's using Tein S-tech springs.

How bout this... think of it this way: the stock MSP wheel is 7" wide. Your new Rota is 7.5". Half of that extra width goes toward the hub; half of it goes toward the fender, so the wheel will move you out 1/4" more than stock. The stock MSP wheel is 55mm offset. The new Rota would be 48mm offset. Thats a difference of 7mm; 6mm = 1/4"; so the difference in offset will move the wheel out a little more than 1/4".

SO, 1/4" from the wheel width + 1/4" from the offset = 1/2" (+1mm) closer to the fender. So take a ruler or yardstick out to your car and place it flat and vertical against the outside of your current tire so that the top of the ruler is facing up into your wheel well. Now get a tape measure and measure out from the ruler toward your fender lip 1/2". Thats about where your tire would be with the new wheel, if you got a 17 x 7.5 by 48mm offset.
