You've obviously never used a V1...

When I lived in downtown Chicago, I only used it for long trips (since Chicago City Cops don't typically run radar in the city), but now that I'm living in a less "urban" city (Jacksonville, FL) my V1 has become absolutely indispensable.

i have the Escort Passport 8500 X50 Radar/Laser Detector. i love it. saved me many times. i paid 350 for it this last summer. works great.

I got one used MINT with box and everything for $200. Craigslist ftmfw!!! Saved my ass a ton of times. Doesn't always nab laser, but I have heard and believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that by the time it goes off, you're too late. With that in mind, keep the detector high so you have a better chance of snagging those radar waves. *The thing that scares me about laser is getting caught doing 100-ish. Try to talk your way outta that!

On a side note, I NEVER changed my driving style, only added my radar detector. It's stupid to add a detector, drive like an asshole, and think you won't get caught by laser or reckless by a cop just driving along.

I know my detector won't save me when I drive like an asshole. Doesn't stop me.........

Check out this video of a Valentine One saving this guy from a ticket as a dumbass in a Tahoe with no radar detector rides his ass so that he can fly right passed him and receive a present. The V1 driver gets his first alert at the 1:26 mark in the video and the cop turns off his radar at the 2:25 mark.

What do y'all know about laser jammers? I'm thinking of the valentine 1, but also want a supplemental jammer. And don't forget, no matter how good the electronics, cops can still pace you and ticket. Check that rearview...
