New pup on the way

What the fire.........

Well, the wife decided she was ready for another dog after we had to put our last one down this past July. She has been thinking that our Black Lab is lonely now that she is the only one left (we have been a multi-dog family for the past 11 yrs). So, we thought we would head down to the local Humane Society on Sat. and try to save one from being Euthanized. Turns out we found our next member of the family within about 2 minutes of arriving. We can't pick her up until Wed. but, my wife went back up today and re-visited her and took a couple pics to e-mail to me since I am out of town. Thought I would share. We don't have too much info on the dog other than she is a mix of St. Bernard and something. I guess the previous owner got her and in the matter of a couple days decided they didn't want to raise a puppy........Anyway, here she is.

How Sweet!
Congratulations!

Have you picked out a name? Maybe you could have a puppy naming contest on here or something:)

i respect you guys for going down to the local humane soc and getting a dog. there are thousands of lovable dogs and cats that need homes. in this day and age where ppl are willing to shell out thousands of dollars for a pure breed "fill in the blank with the currently populare dog here". its good to see that you can see past all of this and helped save a lovable dog from seeing the terrible end most of this dogs at the humane soc do. enjoy the new pup when she gets home:)

every single animal we have has been form the animal shelter, except my 2 turtles (which we had to buy), and one of our cats, which showed up at our house one day

and congratulations on the new pup, when we got our most recent one, the owner returned her saying that she was 'too much puppy for her', and she was only 4 months old, what can ya expect?

lol at NRNM Getting animals from the Humane Soc. is the only way to di it. We got our pup bella at the Humane Society. And it has been nothing but joy since.

She already has a name, I guess from the previous owner. It's Zora. The wife likes it. I kinda like it too so I think we are going to just leave it at that. On her feet, I thought the same thing when I looked at her. They had her charted on her sheet at being between 50 and 70 lbs. Dunno if I believe that really. She is quite tall already. Really lanky too. That's OK though. Our black lab goes close to 85 lbs. It feels pretty good to know that we are saving another animal from being put down. I would have loved to get another lab. We got our first one from a friend and didn't have to pay really anything for the dog. She is a great dog. Really mellow, fantastic with the kids. But, the last 2 dogs we had (one died last year, one we just put down this past summer) were both strays that we took in and were great dogs too. Pure breeds are nice, but it's just a good feeling to save a puppy and give it a good home.

Awesome!! Congrats! More pics once she comes home, with the other pups!

All the animals in my family were either taken in as strays, or adopted from shelters. I got my Mia through an agency up at Penn State over two years ago. She's the best dog evAr. :D

Hey Thanks ! Yeah, I just talked to my wife. She and the kids are pretty excited. They get to pick her up tomorrow afternoon. I'm stuck in Chicago for another week so I'll have to get some more pics after I get home.

Well,
I think that Zora is really mysterious and a great name. And it takes me back to when I watched Joe Millionaire..I still don't know why I watched it...

I have four dogs right now. The first one we got when the hubby was stationed in Iceland and we just moved there. Her previous "Mom" wanted to open a home catering business and Pepper just had too much hair.....Then about a year later Pepper got pregnant. We didn't think she was in heat. The vet even told us she had an infection. Apparently it isn't odd for dogs there to go in to heat every three months. It has something to do with the light cycle.
Anywho...She had five healthy cute as hell border collie/mix puppies. We kept the only brown one...Bailey..and found the other's really great homes with friends of ours.
So we came back to the states and in 3 years 8 week old Dayzee showed up in my yard. One blue eye, one brown, she's a husky mix. Hence the profile pic. Very Very Alpha and somewhat dimwitted. Always has been. And very hard to train. But we love her for her dee dee deeedness....
Sidney came to us last summer. Her name was Lady but it just didn't fit her at all. My husband calls her Ninnee. She really likes. it. She's a border collie/mix also. But I think she was mixed with something that has really floppy ears. Maybe beagle? She has marking of a rottie too. Who knows. Her previous owner was going to have her put down because she kept escaping out of their yard....She tried it in mine but she is pretty much an inside dog here so as long as I watch her it's not an issue.
Anyway, I guess I'm long winded.
Dogs are such a joy. Especially the unfortunate ones:)
Hope you all and Zora have a happy life together:)

Wife e-mailed me a few more pics of the dog. Pretty good one of both of the dogs. Looks like our Lab has a buddy now. Sounds like they pretty much lay around the house like this all day. Kinda funny.
