you can try and swap in a mazda speed but for power just turbo it or add better internals if you want rotary get an rx7 its not worth it for a protege even tho i would love too see it

see my point to i would love to see it and i would even love it more if i was the one that did it and it worked but y do you say it wouldnt be worth it do you think the rotary isnt powerfull anough to move it fast?

why don't you try putting in the KL-ZE (i think) engine. It's a challenge to fit in and I think you have to do a battery relocate. I know of only two on the forum...and one was in progress. So it'd be kinda rare.

wow that was music to my ears...couple things tho mines a four door not a five and i kinda want to be able to drive it on the street but least it gives me hope right..

if you got time, money and hella patience then its deff something to hope for haha

well honestly for my baby(my car) i dont mind ill have a truelly one of a kind when im done and itll be a show winning race winning car so..im down for it

hey bro if you are willing to do it by all means do it, its going to take hella time and money but you will def be original

in this economy the last thing I do would be to throw $20k at a damn protege....might as well light the cash on fire

keep the pro as a daily driver, and buy a project car. Dont turn the car you drive everyday into a project car because you will hate life.

WHen everything is rattling and you have lights going off, and strange smells, and your only trying to get to work, it loses all of its fun.

seriously...you want a rotary powered car so badly, DD the protege and buy and build a RX7 with your $20k....you'll be better off...

ive thought about that before but in my area its hard to find onw in one peice amd there not cheap id spend the bolk of the money on just geting the car...im starting to think i should scarp the intire idea and just build up what i have...i think im gana do that see if i happy with just doing that thx tho..

FCs are cheap, and the highest ive seen them is around 5k for a pristine TurboII

FDs are definitely dropping in price and you could find one for about 8k.

what i've researched is that alot of other people have done that and what they've done is: "put a 1.8 block out of a v6 mx-3 and put the 2.5 head and use the cpu out of a mx-6 and the 1.8 tranny" which supposedly gives you a: "12.7sec car in a quarter mile"
