All,

I put a thread awhiles back on the 3M stone Guard,

well my buddy found this website:
Armour Glove

It's got the Protege and Protege 5 packages (which go further than normal kits on the bumper)

I'm thinking that the P5 kit would line up pretty nicely w/ our front ends, eh? :D

Thoughts?

good find any prices. I found the 3M kit for like $240 not installed. It included Hood, Full Bumper, Mirrors, Headlights and Foglights.

How much have people spent on labor?

I have had the following prices quoted to me:

Place 1:
Upper kit: $490
Lower Kit: $490

Place 2:
Entire Kit: $250 + (50/hr. Labor for 4 hours) = $450

I didn't say that I wasn't going to do it myself... but I am not artistic at all and would probably end up bubbling the shizzy out of it and it'll look like a 1/2 fast job :(

I just searched for these & it's cool that they have them for the P5 (which I guess works for the 03 MSP), but that doesn't help us 03.5 owners. I found this site on NASIOC:

http://www.xpel.com/products/shop.a...ries=0&year=2003&make=25&model=779&submodel=0

Basically, it's $400 for everything. Most people probably wouldn't consider buying this, but most people probably wouldn't spend $150 for a car cover either.

Too bad I didn't hear about this crap before I got those nice chunks taken out of my bumper, and fender. I'd have to repaint my fenders and hood before getting this stuff. Does anyone have this already?? I wanna know how it hold up to scuffs. Does it tear, or scratch? I think that might look worse when it gets beat up then little chips out of the paint.

Hey man, did you paint your headlights black? They look darker than stock. I plan on doing that soon. :D

Has anybody seen anything on how this stuff will hold up in cold weather? A friend of mine had something similar on his Eclipse (looked like thick contact paper) and when we hit January, the s*** cracked off in good sized chunks... some taking paint.

Also, how does it hold up to a wash and wax?

Just a helpful hint if some one does decide to install it themselves. I used to tint windows back in the days, and a nice trick to prevent bubbles. Mix some water and dishwashing detergent together in a spray bottle. Spray it on the car where you are going to apply the guard. This will make the surface slippery, so when you squeegee the film, the bubble go away.

This is an OLD thread! :D

I ended up not getting it. I didn't want to install it myself. I have a friend whom worked at a car dealership (Carmax) and someone had it on thier 2002 Audi. He said that it was CRAP. It was turning yellow and flaking off and looked really bad. It does look INCREADIBLE for the 1st year or so, but then you are SOL after that b/c of the fact that it's on there for good and if you remove it you'll have a s*** load of nasty goo on the front end of your car. And yes, I have heard of it flaking off... not taking paint off, but actually just flaking off.

I would just save that 400 bucks for a front end repaint :D

If you look at the site, they warranty it for 4 years & they guarantee to pay you up to $1000 with your insurance deductible blah blah blah if you have any damage. I've seen Audi S4 owners with these & they look good, but I don't have any pics of them.

What about when you go to wash or wax the car? Do you wax the clear bra? If it's a plastic material wouldn't the wax make it cloudy or discolored?

You can wax the product just like your car's finish. You do not want to wash or wax for the first three days. This is the intial set in time for the product to start setting and making a bond with the surface.

The prices from armor glove are a little high. I noticed they do the entire bumper, but I am sure that would require some hadn trimming on the car.

Anyone interested can try this place they have prices starting at $126.00 for the full.

That sucks that its not out for the Speed yet. I just got mine and I have always wanted to do this even to my last car but it was too late by the time I found out about it.
