New Pics of red Injen CAI

I finally got the photos of my red Injen Intake. Let's see if my first pic post works.

When I was getting mine installed at Injen I saw they also had a Black Powder coated one also. I even seen a black one with some flat kind of paint on it on their drag car. (600+ hp Civic) The two black one's I thought looked awesome. But for looks and aesthetics I had to go with the Red. :D

Looks great Marty

I just ordered mine (polished) yesterday. :D

What I really want to know is your true seat of the pants driving impression (not interested in huge HP gains, as there won't be any.) I'm fully aware of that. :)

I've got an Automatic, same as you. Is there any appreciable low end torque loss? How about in-town driving throttle response? Highway throttle stomp response?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks man,
Jim

You'll get a good feel on the throttle with it. You won't feel so sluggish off the line. Still not a rocket but you'll notice it.

as far as power.

Before: 95.1 whp, 107.6 Max Torq (w/exhaust already installed but not guessing more than 2-4whp gain from it on a good day.)

After: 100.2 whp, 111.6 Max Torq

More importantly the power in the low end only dips below the stock #'s at 2400rpm and again at 2700rpm but only for maybe half a second. from there the power stays above the stock #'s all the way through to high end. Max hp was between 5500 and 6k.

The #'s I was shown on the 5spd where a noticable difference. Can't quite recall but I know it was about 10hp+/- more than mine.

Let me add that the test I was shown with others, the power dipped and stayed below stock #'s until about 2500 to 3k. I don't know exactly which one but as I was told it's the same with most that aren't RAM tuned, ulike Injens.

Now let the fire's burn. Ack!! I see flames coming!!

Thanks man.

What I'm really interested in is seeing the dyno graph for the response "under the curve" or below peak HP/TQ. Peak numbers I could really care less about because 90% of the time your not driving 5k+ RPM's anyway. Still, if the dyno graphs are as good as AEM posted for the short ram, I'm happy. :)

I'll have to dyno my car after I get this installed. Hell, who knows. I might do a dyno run at Carlisle.... :D

Just wonderin' (due to my newbieness with intakes):

Dealer pictures I see of the Injen CAI has a cone at the end. I don't see that on the pictures above. So where/how does it get the cold air?

The filter sits on the end of the intake tube inside the fenderwell... you can't see it in most pics. This is what gives you the "cold air" factor... the filter is not drawing in warm engine bay air.

Let me add this as well. After having this on for a few days, I'm not that impressed with "in town" driving. It's a bit more sluggish than stock. I've done the ECU reset, so we'll see if it gets better with a few hundred more miles of drive time.

After 3000 rpm it's much better. I like the way it breaths on the freeway. Sounds nice in conjunction with my RacingBeat catback.

Thanks Mack. I'm already using a K&N filter. I may opt for an Injen later on. I will, however, go for the MazdaSpeed Sport Exhaust soon. And perhaps the Eibach Pro Springs or the HKS.

I promised myself not to put any mods (and stay stock) when I bought the Yellow Sub. I guess promises are made to be broken!
