Hi All,

I just turned in my 05 Mazda 3 lease for a new 08 CX-9! Zoom Zoom Indeed!!
i never wanted a truck/suv b/c they always drive "boaty". I LOVE this cx-9. Drives like my old 3. MMM.

ANYWAY! Im a bit confused w/ the rear controls on the climate control system.
Now matter how i adjust the settings, I cant get the air to come from the vents. It only comes out around the floor from the center console. I feel so silly that I cant figure this out!

Any ideas?

The system is operating correctly.

When the dial is turned to RED/Heat, the rear console will blow air from the lower vents. When the dial is turned to Blue/Cold, the console will blow the air from the upper vents on the console.

It's all based on physics.

Hot air rises.

Cold air sinks.

haha sounds about right. lol Its december, i supose thats why I havent tried the A/C in the back.
thanks!

And if you have kids in the back seat like we do, and have all their junk spewed on the floor, that little tiny heating vent that's almost flush with the floor will be nicely blocked, rendering it somewhat useless.

Would have been nice to at least have the option to re-route the heat to the upper vents so you can aim then downward. But in the end, there's no issue heating the car.

Maybe you need to be better parents and not let your kids fill the car with their 'junk' that YOU bought for them in the first place

Bring on the hate replies!!

The "junk" I'm referring to are things like diaper bags that we keep on the floor of the second row, as well as towels that I keep there to clean up the wetness/slush that the kids bring in--I'm kinda anal about cleaning that up immediately, it just becomes that much harder when the leather gets stained).

But the real problem are road trips, just like over the Xmas vacation: we keep backpacks of snacks, water, etc, and place all that on the floor of the second row. So no matter what you do, that damned vent will get blocked up.

As for toys and stuff, all that stays on the bench, so they pose no issues in blocking the vent.

And as for being better parents, I am genuinely amazed that you were able to deduct me and my wife's suckiness based on one internet post. Please send me a copy of your parenting book, I am obviously in great need of it ;)
