New NFS video game

i saw it in the new psm, but all of the screenshots were of different supras.......................

im waiting for gt4...it looks absolutely amazing. especially the grand canyon course..................

Yeah that does look good. I already posted a thread with a bunch of GT4 pics.

I also can't wait until next week. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is coming out for X-Box.

the NFS series was ruined years ago. The orginal one for the pc was the best one, and still my fav. car game of all time. The 2nd was a complete flop, the physics were the s****, and they got rid of the road courses and went with oval tracks. The rest were all crap except..

Porsche unleashed. Physics were kinda touchy but overall a really nice driving game. The last hot pursuit one was crap.

not excited about NFS games anymore, they went to arcade'ish.

And why does every damn car game now have only oval tracks? Lazy programmers.

Could never figure that out. In NFS, your on an oval track, there's other traffic coming the other way????? Buses, SUV's, sedans etc.....and then there's the cops? Why are the cops chasing you? It's a damn circle....just wait!

there are a few other tuning games coming out including: street racing syndicate (which i hope will still be released because it was looking good, but 3do filed chapter 11), r: racing evolution (which is the next installment of the ridge racer series, rpm tuning, and the fast and the furious - which both look like crap.

newf which version of NFS:Hot Pursuit 2 did you play? I am the lead technical artist on the Need for Speed team who developed the PS2 version, and we won racing console game of the year. Originally our studio was a 3rd party company called Black Box Games. The other 3 versions of HP2, (Gamecube, XBox, and PC), were made by EA Seattle, which consequenced in that studio being shut down because of the garbage they released. Black Box was bought by EA, and now we are making all 4 versions of NFS:Underground here.

PC version. Wow, talk about small world.

Well. Let me put it this way...... I almost failed my 1st year of engineering because of the PC version of the first NFS. Damn, I thought that thing rocked. I would play it for hours and hours, and then just as I was able to put it down, they came out with the SE version or something......then my 2nd semester didn't go too well either :) Until this day, I have never played another single game as much. The hours I put into that thing was scarey.

For it's time, it was amazing. The physics were right on. throw the car around a corner, tap the brakes, downshift, whatever..each car reacted just right with their own differences, you could get the tail going when you wanted, do doughnuts all day, total freedom. it was just cool. granted, the crash physics were um...shall we say slightly exaggerated? And it was the last one to use real ROADS. Not f'n OVALS! To me, Ovals are a lazy way of making a game longer, even if they do have hills and turns, it's still a circle. Let's just make them do circles all day....oh boy...what fun. Oh, I'm a cop, so I'l do circles chasing this dood all day.....no, I'll just stop, block the road, and wait for him to come back....it's a CIRCLE for gods sake.

Didn't play the PS2 version. Did play the PC version about 6 times, and got rid of it. I like DRIVING games. Not games where the physics are over done, or underdone. Or the car bounces off of everything, seems like it's on ice all the time or permanently stuck to the road. Or, a 700 hp car can't do a damn burnout for s***.

TO me, NFS was the BEST driving game ever. Great tracks, cars, the music rocked, the gfx were great for it's time, and I felt like I was DRIVING the car, not some remote controlled pos. That's what I miss. And the sounds for the engines were SPOT ON. THe NSX, the Viper, all sounded great.

So, tell your programmer guys over at EA for something. They ruined the NFS series for me on the PC, and I am a true gamer. I don't want some cheesy arcade game that only looks pretty, I want a driving game. I want to take a corner, and drift when I want ( not when the car wants to ) as if I was really driving. I want to be able to drop the clutch and spin those tires until I'm down to the rims, but the car shouldn't be uncontrollalbe either. I don't want to bounce off of walls doing 160 mph without a scratch, get stuck on some silly pebbles on the side of the road, have some computer do all the driving for me, or have the game so techhnically hard to drive it's not fun ( Nascar anyone?)

Anyhow, I'm ranting....where's my beer!

Hopefully, you guys do a much better job, because EA killed the series for the PC. And I've played them all hoping they will get it right again someday. Porsche unleashed was their last decent one, and even that had s*** loads of problems..UM OVAL TRACKS MAYBE ! It was gorgeous though....hmmm.....porsche 911 twin Turbo......yum

I guess what I want is really the original NFS, with an updated engine, NO OVALS, and the same physics again. That's all I want. Throw in the cop thing again too, I don't care. Heck, keep the exotic sports cars, and throw in some hot import cars too, be able to upgrade and mod cars, and we're done.

"Burnout 2" is great! So, much better than the first one. But, it's too easy.

Also, can't wait for "project gotham.... 2".

The PS2 version had ovals and road courses, and the original game also had ovals and road courses, go play it again.

You didn't read my last post, the studio which made the PC version got shut down and those programmers were fired.

You should play the PS2 version, it's entirely different from the crap you played.

Everyone has an opinion, but most do nothing about it, maybe if you didn't "almost fail" your first year of engineering you could be making video games instead of nerding out over them, LOL!

Yeah I tried NFS HP2 on the PC and was like "What the **** is this. This blows". Then I read the gamespot review mentioning exactly what was mentioned above. PS2 version was developed soley for by one company. XBox, GC, PC got a horrible "port". I played the PS2 version at my friend's place and its much better.

I was very impressed the first time I played NFS. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Porsche Unleashed rocks my world though. The physics are an EXCELLENT combo of simulation vs arcade, leaning a bit more on simulation I think. I play this at work in my office with my coworkers for $2-$10 a race. Very addictive :).

I look forward to GT4 as well. One thing I hate about PS2 screenshots is that they are highres dumps from the development box or internal hardware. Thus, they look NOTHING like what they look like on your television set. Jaggied Aliased messes :(. A good example was the Vice City shots... PS2 is cool, but they should've worked a bit harder on the graphics to make it completely killer.

Chris

Anyone has screenshot of the game? MYy favorite NFS is still Porsche Pursuit. Nothing can beat that

PHRiSCo:

I understood that your a different developer, and you had nothing to do with the PC version up until this point. I just wanted to stress my point so you guys don't make the same mistakes. EA has taken some companies over the past few years and destroyed them.....origin anyone?

And the PC version of NFS also had ovals, I was just stating that they also had road courses. I hardley ever played the boring oval tracks.

......and if I could make video games for a living...that would be SOOOO COOOL.

:)

PHRiSCo - You make video games for a living? My dream job :(. I'm a lowly 2D/3D weather graphics programmer right now, working on a side 3D PocketPC engine for a side PocketPC game for some extra dough. Hook me up! :p.
