just got my mazda back the other day with the new motor installed jsut wondering what everyone idea of a good way to break it in. the dealership said 1500 clicksof low rpm driving on the oil the engine came with "training oil they called it " then hard for a while. til labout 3000 clicks. then easy till 5 .this is alot different thatn what ive herd asking around . thought ide ask th fourms

when we did my motor, it was more getting throughout the rev range. biggest thing was staying out of cruise control (which is hard when your shop is 400 miles away) so the rings get a good range of abuse. agreed, the oil in the beginning should be changed out fairly easy, 3-5k is up to debate, just feel it out.

For the love of everything English..Please, please use real English (not AIMspeak)...and try some PUNCTUATION. Gheesh.(blarf)

Thanks.

i can't remember the filter placement on the v6 off the top of my head, but here's what i do from time to time on my 2.3. just take a pic and jab it into the filter, and let it drain out, it's about a quart on my car, then run a magnet through the oil and see if you pick anything up. the "training oil" is a bit thicker, so the engine will get a bit peppier when it's out of there. if there's a bit of flake floating around, just change the filter and top off with some dino oil. if it looks clean, then the filter got most of it already and you can change the oil if you want.

just my thoughts

best way to break it in, is avoid testing the speed limits of the car (crazy)

thats more of a personal opinun then a fact. ive been reading alot of articles on the duratech and more then one person has said if u break it in hard ur going to see increased WHP . BUT i however have not taken the car past 110. nor have i broken 5500 rpms "what the dealership told me to do" not to mention i started that thread with my old engine still running fine . NTM if ur thinking the reason it went in the first place was my fault . your wrong .mazda said when a engine goes from ratbaging the car . its in the upper parts . where as my engine got shorted 4 bearings in one of the lower parts from the factory . and made it this far "64000 clicks" on luck . a one in a million defect.

I raise the bs flag on this one man! I'm doing better then most people my age (23), and I have a college education. I however don't make anywhere near that(48K plus shift diff)! I personally don't believe you are making that kind of dough. If you were, you would more then likely be driving something other then a Mazda...
