New Motor idles weird runs fine after 3k rpms

i bought a new motor put it in and now it wont idle properly but if i rev it and after it pops and chokes its way to 3000 rpms it opens up and runs smooth to redline whats the deal whats the problem any help cause i need to sell my car asap!!!

My mp3 was doing the same thing and i just found out it was a bad water temp sensor. I put the new one in and it run just fine now.
