03.5 MS Protege
Got myself a replacement to the stock rubber line with a stainless braided one. These things have worked awsome on my other cars.

I was excited how easy this was compared to the other cars I've done this to due to the location of where the soft line is. But I got excited too soon when I found the bleeder nozzle behind the turbo inlet pipe. So that had to come off to bleed the thing. Oh Ah well, can't win 'em all.... :)

I tried to take pics, but I borrowed a camera who's card my card reader can not read. Maybe pics to do.

where did you get it?? i want one.

I will be bleeding the brakes when i put my new ones on weds, so i might as well do that too.

is it designed for a protege, the only one i have seen was on the rr-racing site and it didnt say protege.

The RR-Racing one is a really expensive brake line.

I got mine from Cork Sport. $18

can you post a link.. i cant seem to find it. Is it for the protege?

Paul, I bet the 626/MX6/Probe will work. I don't see why Mazda would have designed that differently, just about everything else is the same.

Yes, I used the MX-6 one. The MX-6 one actually fits about every Mazda. But the Protege one is just a tad shorter. So it's longer than it needs to be. They will be coming out with one for the Protege that's the same length though.

so what gains do you get when you put in the SS clutch line?? :) thx..

You get all the power back at the wheels that you lose at the crank!

No, but really, it will give you a better feel of the clutch engagement.

The SS clutch line uses the same concept as SS brake lines. In easy terms it puts pressure where it needs to go instead of expanding the rubber line

SS brake lines should be done at the same time as the clutch line and vice versa because they are using the same system - so upgrading one makes the other a weak point

how so?

the little line that connects the brake reservoir to the clutch master cylinder is a LOW PRESSURE line.. there is NO pressure going to and from it at all... all it does is transfers fluid from the brake reservoir to the clutch master cylinder

if that line HAD pressure, you will see a actually screw on fitting to that line... and you will end up having a pressurized brake reservoir... squirting fluid EVERYWHERE in its current design

and FYI, the MX-6/Probe/626 clutch lines are the same as the 2.0 Proteges.... same factory part, same length, everything

i didnt know it was a low pressure line - i havent looked closely at it, but i knew that it uses the same fluid so as far as i was aware, it was best to do all lines at the same time (also saves you having to drain the fluid twice too)
