Hello all. I am about to purchase an MS3, so I came over here to look around.

For the past four years, I have been into road course motorcycle racing. I had a street bike ('03 Kawasaki Z1000), but sold it for a more suitable track bike when I got into racing. Although I love racing motorcycles, it is just way too expensive. Each race weekend cost me over $700. (I can't afford to continue that kind of hobby on a teacher's salary.)

So, I decided I would buy a sports car to help take my mind off of missing the whole motorcycle scene. After reading several articles and test driving quite a few different cars, the MS3 got my vote.

I'm leaving for Japan next week and will be gone a while, but as soon as I get back I am buying one. I really only have one major dilemna... Sport or Grand Touring? I plan on getting the CAI at the same time I purchase. Is it worth the extra $$$ to get the grand touring model? Anyone regret getting one over the other?

the leather in the GT is really bad, the cloth seats are better. also the nav is pretty weak compared to say a Garmin unit. Find a GT without leather and nav and you're set

I have Nav on My MZ3 and ordered it on my 08 MS3GT. My wife has a Garmin 2610 and I find it irritating to use. The only thing I wish the Mazda system had was a more detailed ETA, which updates based on speed, and faster calculations. Otherwise the Mazda system is both cool and informative. Plus you gotta love that collapsing screen. I can't comment on the leather, though the leather (pleather?) in my MZ3 is pretty comfortable and durable.

you do realize that nav is not standard on either the sport or GT right?

i have the gt and its good...i like the leather and the car have rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, and the blue hed's? they call them? not sure but i dont regret and i believe the leather is alot better than cloth. i have gt without nav its its fine....dont get ur cai from the dealer u can get them online for $300 shipped from tiffany at showcase..or from protegegarage.com for $309 shipped...my dealer has them for 350 so i saved myself 50 bucks...

Sport Is Fine

I have a Black MS3 Sport model with cai and couldn't be happier. The car doesn't need much, as its pretty good just the way it sits. You have to weigh everyday driveability vs to many mods making the car a pain to live with. Since you raced motorcycles before, you might like track events with your speed3, although probably not as thrilling as bikes. Check out the link.

Thanks for the info. I don't think I'll get into racing again, but I DO plan on taking it to a few track days here and there. I am already pretty familiar with a lot of the tracks here in the Southeast.
