2012 Skyactiv Hatchback automatic
Hello all,

My wife and I traded our 2009 Mazda5 in for a new silver Mazda3 Skyactiv hatchback with an automatic transmission. We have about 700 miles on it now, and we are enjoying it immensely. No mods are planed, as I never mod any vehicle, but I love seeing all the mods going on with the members here. Really cool stuff. This is one sweet ride, and I replaced the factory Bridgestones with Kumho 4X in size 225/50/16 (for safety and comfort reasons).

Best regards

Welcome to the forums. As far as the tires are concerned, these Bridgestone Turanzas are absolutely terrible, JELL-O like wastes of vulcanized rubber with no grip outside of careful driving. Coming from a Mazdaspeed 3 with all-season Kumho Ecsta ASX tires which were worlds better than the OEM-equipped ones on the Skyactiv 3, the difference is night and day. Unfortunately, I will be hanging on to these tires until they're unusable. A set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS or some all-season performance Kumho tires are in my car's future. I would honestly love to get summer tires, but I'd end up needing a winter set of wheels and tires in case a bad snowstorm hits. In Philly, winters are either cold and full of precipitation or mild.

Anyway, good luck with the new car! I definitely have been enjoying mine for the past two months so far, with the exception of these lousy tires.

Thank you, it's great to be here and the Mazda3 Skyactiv is incredible. I think the Kumho 4X's are terrific tires, especially in the 225/50/16 size. The steering feel is right on, the cornering grip is as much as I will ever need, they are very comfortable over speed bumps (several of them in my neighborhood), and the little bit of extra width gives increased rim protection.
