New Member and some help

Hey everyone, new member here! I joined because I'm looking for some advice...

I currently own a Ford Focus SVT, and it's been giving me nothing but problems. It's supercharged, (installed myself), and it's just been non-stop headaches. Not just with the blower, but since I bought the vehicle 2.5 years ago.

I really can't deal with the unrealiable Focus anymore... I need a realiable car, and I've heard really good things about the Mazdaspeed3. I love the power it puts down, and have read really glowing reviews.

So, what's everybody's opinions? Is it a realiable, fun car? What are the main things I should watch out for, if and when I do buy one?

Thanks everyone!

I love it....had a civic before this car. You're probably going to read about "problems" people have on here, but you have to keep in mind some people probably come here in the first place because of some problem they have or something. It's probably easy to come into the forum and read all these 'bad' things happening to cars and get scared, but it's really the same thing going to any other forum. Personally I haven't had any problems....very happy with the car!

It's an awesome little car and it's proven reliable thus far. I've only got 11k miles on mine but haven't had the slightest problem with it. You will find that other members have close to 50k miles and no real problems. As for things to watch out for; as with pretty much any turbo car you need to let it idle for a min or two before you turn it off after being on boost. (I let it idle for at least 30 sec regardless just to stay in the habit) If you don't like to sit in your car just buy a turbo timer. The car does exhibit some tq steer in 1st and 2nd gear, just make sure both hands are on the wheel if you're going to punch it in first and second (this is especially true on bumpy/ uneven roads). More on reliability, the Mazda 3 which is the car it was obviously based on has had above avg reliability ratings. Yes, the MS3 has a turbo and other tweaks but it's very well put together (Built and assembled in Japan)

IMO you will like it better than the SVT Focus. I can't comment on reliability because mine is only a week old, but I can tell you that the last week a grin has been plastered across my face every time I've been in the driver's seat. The torque steer is a little annoying, but it is about what I expected from a FWD car with that much hp/tq.

Welcome to the boards!

Hate to tell you this, but you need to search my friend. There are like 5,000 threads like this already, and a lot of them are pretty resent.

LOL of course people around here will tell you to get one, this is an enthusiast site!

I suggest reading some of the automotive magazine reviews/comparisons...overwhelmingly positive.

i had an svt focus before i bought the ms3 and hands down this car is 100x better. faster, more refined and overall just a better ride

just pull the trigger.... you won't regret it. I have 3 friends who have the SVT focus and after I got my MS3 they were all kicking themselves in the ass because of how much nicer and quicker it is
